Schedule a Report to Run Later (Desktop)
Use the Schedule option on the Reporting toolbar to schedule a favorite report or a standard report to be generated at another time. For example, you can schedule reports to be generated after normal business hours.
To schedule a report to run at another time:
- On the Navigation pane in DPS Desktop, click Reporting, and click the type of report.
- To select the report, click anywhere in the grid row for that report. Both standard and favorite reports are listed in the Reports grid. Favorite reports have either Personal or Global in the Type column.
- Set the report options and record selection criteria.
- Click Schedule on the Reporting toolbar.
- In Queue on the Schedule dialog box, select the queue to which you want to submit the report.
- If necessary, change the text in Description to describe the scheduled job more clearly.
- In Run after, set the date and time after which you want the report generated.
- If you want to place the job on hold (pending approval, for example), select Place job on hold.
- If you want to receive an email notification when the report is actually generated, select Enable process alert for this submit.
- Click Options.
- If you want to print the report, select Print Report on the Options dialog box and click Print Setup to select the printer and specify print options. If you do not have a default printer specified in your user options, Print Report is not available until you click Print Setup and select a printer. The printer must be set up on the report server. It cannot be a local printer.
- If you want to run the report in the current period or in the prior period, select Always run in the...period and specify the period.
- If you want to create an archive copy of the report, select Create report archive, and enter the number of hours that you want to save the archived report in Archive hours. The option to archive reports is only available if you are using the Standard Edition or Enterprise Edition of Microsoft SQL Server.
- Click OK to return to the Schedule dialog box.
- If you want the report to be run on a regular basis (daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly), click the Recurrence tab and enter the required information.
- Click OK.
