Create a New Project from a Project Template

You can create a new project from a project template, which contains a pre-defined Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) as well as pre-defined data values that are transferred to the new project record.

Use this approach to save time and to ensure that new project data is accurate and consistent. If project defaults are specified in Settings > General > Project Defaults, those default settings override template settings.

To create a new project from a project template:

  1. From the Navigation menu, click Hubs > Projects.
  2. Click New and select Create Project From....
  3. On the Create Project From dialog box, select Project Template from the Copy From drop-down list.
  4. In the Template Project field, click Search to open the Project Template lookup and select the template that you want to use to create the new project record.
  5. Complete the remaining fields on the Create Project From dialog box (for the new project record).
  6. Click OK. DPS closes the Create Project From dialog box and opens a new project record. DPS enters the project template information in the new project record.
  7. On the tabs of the Projects hub form, enter additional information about the new project.
  8. Click Save.
