Create a New Project from an Opportunity and a Project Template

You can use a combination of an existing opportunity and a project template to create a new project.

DPS creates the new project based on the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and any data values from the project template. It also maps all data values from the opportunity record.

If the opportunity is associated with a project plan, the opportunity data brought into the project record includes all prior client, contact, and employee relationships.

To create a new project from an opportunity and a project template:

  1. From the Navigation menu, click Hubs > Projects.
  2. Click New and select Create Project from....
  3. On the Create Project From dialog box, select Opportunity and Project Template from the Copy From drop-down list.
  4. Click Search in the Opportunity field to open the Opportunity lookup and select the opportunity record that you want to use to create the new project record.
  5. Click Search in the Template Project field to open the Project Template lookup and select the project template that you want to use to create the new project record.
  6. Complete the remaining fields on the Create Project From dialog box (for the new project record).
  7. Click OK. DPS closes the Create Project From dialog box and opens a new project record. DPS enters the opportunity record's information and the project template WBS settings in the new project record.
  8. On the tabs of the Projects hub form, enter additional project information.
  9. Click Save.
