Void a Credit Memo
When you void a credit memo, transactions (labor, expenses, and so on) are not returned to an unbilled status. Instead, the credit memo transactions are reversed. After you void a credit memo, the credit memo number cannot be re-used.
Prerequisites: To void invoices and credit memos, your security role must have the Allow final processing check box selected on the Accounting tab of .
To void a credit memo:
- From the Navigation menu, click .
- On the Billing Session Options dialog box, enter options for the billing session and click OK.
- On the Interactive Billing form, open the appropriate project.
- On the Interactive Billing toolbar, click .
- On the Invoices on File dialog box, select the credit memo to void, and click the Void button. If this is the first transaction that you are creating in this Interactive Billing session, the Invoice File Selection dialog box displays.

Select a file or create a new file:
- To select a file, click the name and click OK.
- To create a new file, click New, enter the File Name, and then click OK.
- On the dialog box that informs you that this reverses the credit memo, click Yes to continue. On the Invoices on File dialog box, you can see that the credit memo is now removed from the list.
- Click Close.
In
, post the invoice transaction file that contains the voided credit memo. This step updates your General Ledger and Accounts Receivable reports so that they reflect the voided amounts.
