Convert Task Keys

Use the Task Key Conversion utility to change, move, or combine task number data into a single task number.

Before you change, move, or combine tasks, it is important to consider if the projects have associated plans.

When you combine task numbers, DPS:

• Consolidates budgets and data in the project financials table.
• Deletes the billing terms and invoice data (if this is the last task for a project).
• Deletes the billing terms and invoice data when you convert a phase to a task on another project.
• Combines plan data for the tasks.

In addition to changing, moving, or combining data between two existing tasks, you can use the Project Closeout Utility to set up a new task number in which to close out task numbers that are no longer in use. See the Project Closeout Utility for additional information.

Prerequisite: Back up your DPS database.

To change, move, or combine task numbers:

1. On the Navigation menu, click Utilities > Key Conversions > Tasks.
2. Complete the fields on the Key Convert Tasks form.
3. If you are combining existing tasks, select the Combine existing Tasks check box.
4. Select one of the following actions:

   Option	Description
   To save the conversion to run later	Click Save.
   To run the conversion now	Click Run.
   To schedule the conversion to run on a regular basis via the process server	Click Schedule and complete the information on the Schedule dialog box.
