Add a Link to a Frequently Used File
Within a Links dashpart, you can set up links to frequently used files that are located on your computer or network.
If an administrator includes a Links dashpart when saving a Dashboard layout for other users, only those file that are on network shares will be accessible. Any file that is located on a user's hard drive will not be accessible to other users.
To add a link to a file:
- In the desktop application, click Dashboard in the toolbar on the main DPS screen.
- In a dashpart title bar, click the drop-down arrow next to the dashpart name and select New Record.
- On the Add Links dialog box, select a Link Type of File.
- Click the File hyperlink and browse to the file.
-
Select the file and click
Open.
The filename displays in the URL Link window. DPS automatically includes the "http: //", "ftp://", or "file://" portion of the URL.
- If you want the link to be identified by a caption in the dashpart, enter a URL Caption.
- Click Save.
