Use the options under AR Aging Date to specify the dates that are used to calculate the age of invoice balances.
The selection in Age By under AR Aging Date indicates the date associated with AR amounts that you want Costpoint Analytics to use to calculate the age of those amounts: invoice date or payment due date.
If you select Invoice Date in Age By, Costpoint Analytics calculates the current age of the AR amount associated with an invoice as follows:
Age in days for the AR current period = Current date – Invoice date
If you are analyzing AR for historical periods, Costpoint Analytics calculates the age of each AR amount based on the period end date:
Age in days for a prior period = Period end date – Invoice date
Invoices for which full payment was received in a period are not included in the AR aging data for that period.
If you select Due Date in Age By, Costpoint Analytics uses payment due dates rather than invoice dates in these calculations.
The current date used in age calculations is the current date on the Costpoint Analytics server at the time of the most recent data load.
The current period for AR analysis is the fiscal period in which the current date falls. Thus, the current period for AR analysis may differ from the period you select in Current Period for the other project analytics.
If the data load process loads invoices that were posted to a fiscal period later than the AR current period, they are given an age of 0 days old, but they are assigned to a special Future aging range.
Future AR amounts are only displayed in the analytics if you include the AR current period in the analysis. If the analysis period does not include the AR current period, future AR amounts are excluded. You can also exclude them by selecting all aging ranges except Future in the Invoice Aging Ranges filter list.
For the initial configuration, select Invoice Date or Due Date to specify the date Costpoint Analytics uses to calculate AR ages.
Normally, you do not change these settings after the initial configuration. However, you can change them at any time.
