Use this subtask to establish substitute parts for parts that have been assigned to projects.
A substitute part is similar enough to be interchangeable with one or more internal/original parts without alteration. Substitute parts are used on the Project Requirements subtask and the Manage Part Project Data screen for materials planning purposes, as well as other applicable functions throughout Costpoint.
Enter a number to assign the order of preference of the substitutability of this part for the original. Example: Is this part preferred as first substitute, second substitute, third substitute, etc?
Enter, or click to select, the substitute part that can be exchanged for the specified part.
Enter, or click to select, the revision of the substitute part, if applicable.
If a revision was previously assigned to the substitute part elsewhere on the Manage Parts screen, it is displayed here.
Select one of the following options from drop-down list options to indicate whether the inventory for this substitute part can be used in place of the original part or to indicate that this substitute part is not interchangeable:
Use-up/Interchangeable
Interchangeable
Non-Interchangeable
Invalid Substitute
This field displays the unit of measure assigned to this substitute part. The U/M displayed in this field is established on the Characteristics tab.
This field displays the Make/Buy status assigned to this substitute part on the Characteristics tab. B (Buy) indicates a part that is bought from a vendor. M (Make) indicates a part that is manufactured.
This field displays the description for the selected substitute part.
Select this check box to track lot numbers for this part.
Select this check box to track serial numbers for this part.
