Use this screen to establish and maintain the hierarchical relationship of parts in an engineering design environment. You can then copy the engineering bill of material (EBOM) to a manufacturing bill of material (MBOM) using the Copy Bills of Material screen in order to plan and control material operations. You can also copy an existing MBOM to an EBOM in order to make revisions in the design/engineering stage before releasing it back to manufacturing. You can access this screen only if you have selected the Use Engineering Bills of Material check box in the Configure Bills of Material Settings screen.
You can also use this screen to develop level-by-level EBOMs by specifying the assembly part and listing the components and related data for the first level for each row in the table window. After saving that assembly part's EBOM and refreshing this screen, enter the component part ID that was listed for the original assembly part in the Assembly Part field, and then enter the first-level components for each row in the table window. In this way, you can generate a multi-level EBOM (or subassemblies).
If you did not select the Use Separate EBOM Release Function check box in the Configure Bills of Materal Settings screen, you can maintain and release existing EBOMs on this screen (for example, adding new component lines and changing the setting in the Comp Rel Flag field). However, if you selected the Use Separate EBOM Release Function check box, you must use the Release Engineering Bills of Material screen to release existing EBOM assemblies and component line items. You can still add (not modify) new component lines to unreleased EBOMs on this screen. However, you can release them only on the Release Engineering Bills of Material screen.
Upon entering this screen, you are prompted to select EBOMs you want to view and edit. Use the Engineering BOMs dialog box to search Costpoint for specific EBOMs by assembly part, revision, description, or BOM exist flag. If you search for a specific EBOM, this field displays in form view. If you use a wildcard to search for multiply EBOMs, this screen displays in table view. You can switch between the form and table view by clicking or .
Use this block to manage basic information about the assembly part for an EBOM.
This field displays the assembly part ID associated with the EBOM.
This field displays the revision of this assembly part.
This field displays the description of the assembly part.
This field is visible only if the Use Part Data Security Controls check box is selected on the Configure Product Definition Settings screen, which indicates that the assembly part is subject to data security restrictions, as defined in the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
If enabled, this field displays one of the following values to indicate whether the part you are accessing is subject to part data security restrictions and whether you have the necessary authorization to access information for that part:
Unrestricted — The part is not subject to data security restrictions.
Restricted — The part is subject to data security restrictions and that you are authorized to access detailed part information.
***UNAUTHORIZED*** — The part is subject to data security restrictions and you are not authorized to access or view part information. This value is displayed in red background color.

Use this drop-down list to select the status of this assembly part. The available options are:
Estimating
Obsolete
Pre-Release
Released
Phase-Out
Use this drop-down list to select the status of the MBOM. The available options are:
Released
Unreleased
This status controls the use of the EBOM in material planning. If you selected the Use Separate EBOM Release Function check box in the Configure Bills of Material Settings screen, this field defaults to Unreleased and can be modified only in the Release Manufacturing Bills of Material screen.
An assembly part cannot have an EBOM Status of Released if there are unreleased components (the Component Released check box is cleared) or unreleased subassemblies (a separate assembly part with its own EBOM Status, Part Status, and components at a lower level). Unreleased lower-level assemblies must have a Released BOM status before the higher-level assemblies can be released on any given multi-level MBOM.
Click this button to release all unreleased assembly parts.
This field displays Y (Yes) if this assembly part is a provisional part. Otherwise, this field displays N (No).
If the Provisional Part field displays Y, this field displays this assembly part's provisional part type.
Use this drop-down list box to select this assembly part's type. The selection made in this field updates the information that displays in the Part Type field.
Use this field to enter the estimated yield (%) of a manufacturing order for this assembly part for planning purposes.
Use this field to enter additional miscellaneous information for this assembly part relating to the EBOM.

This table window lists all component parts linked to the selected assembly part. You can add, edit, or delete component parts in this table window.
If you selected the Use Separate EBOM Release Function check box in the Configure Bills of Material Settings screen, you can add or modify component lines for unreleased EBOM assemblies in this table window. The Component Released check box for newly added component lines will default based on the setting in the EBOM Release Control group box (for EBOMs) in the Configure Bills of Material Settings screen. If you did not select the Use Separate EBOM Release Function check box, you can release components (along with the EBOM assembly) in this table window.
Use this field to enter a sequence number for this component part. This indicates the order in which this component part will display in reports and inquiries.
When you click , Costpoint automatically assigns a sequence number for the new line. You can modify this value as you prefer. You can reuse a line number if it represents a different effective date or configuration ID.
If a line number is reused on a given MBOM, the configuration ID must be different (if configuration IDs are used).
If the line number and configuration ID are the same, the starting/ending effective dates must not overlap.
Use this field to enter a drawing find number for this component part.
When you click , Costpoint automatically assigns a find number for the new line. You can modify this value as you prefer.
Use this field to enter, or user to select, the valid component part ID you want to link with the selected assembly part.
Use this field to enter of use to select, the component part's revision.
Select the check box to release this component part in this EBOM. This check box must be selected for all component parts before you can release the MBOM assembly.
If the component part is an EBOM subassembly (the EBOM Exists field is Y), this field will display the EBOM status for the subassembly.
If you selected the Released option in the Default Component Release Status in Bill group box (for MBOMs) in the Configure Bills of Material Settings screen, this check box is automatically selected when you add new components.
If you selected the Unreleased option in the Default Component Release Status in Bill group box (for MBOMs) in the Configure Bills of Material Settings screen, this check box is automatically cleared when you add new components.
If you selected the Part Status option, this check box will either be selected or cleared depending on the part's Status drop-down list value in the Manage Parts screen. If the component's part status is Released, Obsolete, or Phase-out, this check box is automatically selected. If the component's part status is Pre-release or Estimating, this check box is automatically cleared.
