Use this screen to add new postal codes and associated city, state or province, and country data for use across companies throughout Costpoint.
The ability to set up postal codes and related data on a one-time basis simplifies the data entry process in many of the screens in which address fields are available.
Note: The system automatically adds the postal code and associated city, state or province, and country data when a new postal code is added for a vendor and for a customer. Data added to this screen in this manner is not editable. Set up vendors in the Addresses subtask screen (Accounting\Maintain\Vendors\Vendor User Flow) and set up customers in the Customers screen (Accounting\Maintain\Customers). |
Once a postal code has been added to this screen (either manually or by the system), entry of the same postal code in many system address screens can automatically import the associated city, state or province, and country from this screen.
In some instances, more than one city may be covered by the same postal code. Since the postal code must be unique in this screen, you should set up the postal code for the city used most frequently. During data entry, you can overwrite the city that automatically defaults in with the postal code.
Before using this screen, the associated country and state/province data must already exist.
Set up countries in the Countries screen (Administration\Maintain\Codes) and set up states and provinces in the States and Provinces screen (Administration\Maintain\Codes).
Enter the postal code.
