Use this screen to download a file that has been previously stored in the web database server via the File Upload Manager or programmatically from within another application.
Note: Files previously uploaded via the File Upload Manager are stored in the W_USER_FILE_CATLG (Web User File Catalog) table. |
Use this screen whenever you need to download a file that displays in this table window as a result of a previous upload.
You should previously have established specific file upload limits and approvals for both pre-loaded system file types and user-defined file types by company in the System Settings screen (Administration\Configure\System).
How can I access the File Upload Manager function and how does it work?
The File Upload Manager is available from the icon on the menu bar. This feature exists in Costpoint web, but not in Costpoint client/server.
Since the end user's PC may be on a different network from the web application server, the purpose of this feature is to enable users to upload files from a different network to the Costpoint web database server for subsequent use in Costpoint web.
When you access the File Upload Manager, the following dialog displays:
Enter the file name or Browse to the file (located in your drive or a network drive).
Enter an optional description. If you leave this field blank, the system automatically assigns a file description by writing the application ID, application name, date, and time combination as the file description. For example, if you uploaded a file from the Users screen, the system would assign the following temporary file description: SYMUSR Users 2005-07-20 14:08:23.0.
You can change a temporary file description assigned by the system after the file has been uploaded.
Enter, or use Calendar Lookup to select, an optional expiration date.
Select the Overwrite checkbox to overwrite a previous version with the same name.
Not all file types and sizes are eligible for upload.
A number of default system file types are pre-loaded in the System Settings screen (Administration\Configure\System). Your system administrator can edit the limits and rights for each system-provided file type. In addition, your system administrator can add additional user-defined upload file types, upload parameters, and rights in this screen.
Please refer to the File Upload Limits section of the documentation in the System Settings screen (Administration\Configure\System) for more information about the File Upload Manager.

For example, if you uploaded a file from the Users screen, the system would assign the following temporary file description: SYMUSR Users 2005-07-20 14:08:23.0.
You can change a temporary file description assigned by the system or any file description in this field.

The non-editable data in this field displays the MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) file types for all files that have been successfully and previously uploaded. (For example, "text/plain," "application/pdf," "image/jpeg," etc.)
Note: MIME is a specification for formatting non-ASCII messages so they can be sent over the Internet. Many e-mail clients now support MIME, which enables them to send and receive graphics, audio, and video files via the Internet mail system. In addition, MIME supports messages in character sets other than ASCII. |
This non-editable field displays the expiration date that was designated at the time of upload.
Click on this pusbutton to begin the download process for the selected file.
The system displays a dialog in which you must choose whether to open or save the selected file. As a result of the required confirmation, you can only download a single file at one time.
Example of Confirmation screen:
If you choose to save the file, you must specify the file name, location, and file type. The system automatically displays the file name and type associated with the file that you selected to download as defaults for this information. You can change the file name as you choose, but you cannot edit the file type.
During the save process, the system displays the file name being saved, the application server name from which the file is being downloaded, the estimated time left, the location to which the file is being downloaded, and the transfer rate.
Once the download process is complete, the system displays the download statistics.
Example of Download Complete Statistics screen:
