This screen contains data for over 175 countries that are pre-loaded by the system for new users. Country codes can be linked with associated city, state or province, and postal code data for use across Costpoint.
Use this screen to review existing country codes, edit some data for existing codes, add new codes, and designate additional data such as magnetic media codes, report locales, and whether to print the country name on reports.
Country codes are used across companies throughout Costpoint and are validated against data from this screen.
You should set up report locales in the Report Locales screen in the Maintain menu of the Administration domain before you set up country code data in this screen.
You should set up country data in this screen before you set up postal codes and state/province data.
Set up postal codes in the Postal Codes screen in the Maintain menu of the Administration domain and set up states and provinces in the States and Provinces screen, also located in the Maintain menu of the Administration domain.
How can I change or delete country code data in this screen?
You can change the data in the Country Name, Print, Mag Media Code, and Locale fields at any time.
You cannot actually change the data in the Country Code field, as you must procedurally first delete the unwanted code and then add the desired code.
If a country code from this screen is currently in use (i.e., it has been used in other setup and data entry screens), it is considered "dependent" data and you cannot delete that code from this screen.
In order to delete it, you must first assign a different country code in each applicable record throughout the system in which that code is used.
Once the country code is not longer in use, you can delete it from this screen.
For a new country code, enter up to eight alphanumeric characters.
This field is not editable for an existing country code.
Enter up to 25 alphanumeric characters to define the country code name or to edit an existing country code name.
Select the Print field checkbox if you want the country code to print with the address on system forms and reports.
Note: This checkbox is not normally selected for the "USA" country code for a company based in the United States. This checkbox is usually selected for all other countries. |
Enter the two-character magnetic media country code, as applicable.
A two-digit country code is required for reporting W-2s on magnetic media when the company and/or employees are located outside of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, a Military Post Office, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. You can find country codes in Appendix B of the Social Security Administration's Magnetic Media Reporting and Electronic Filing instructions.
Enter the magnetic media country codes in this table before running the Federal or State mag media files. Alternatively, you can enter the codes in the Update Mag Media Country Code screen in the People domain.
