Use this screen to associate an owning organization with a project manager if you selected the Use Quick Project Templates checkbox in the Project Settings screen (Administration\Configure\Projects).
This mapping allows an owning organization to default in the Quick Project Setup screen (Projects\ Maintain\Project) when you use quick project templates and you enter a project manager in this screen. Users need not know the owning organization when they enter a new project. You can change the default owning organization in the Quick Project Setup screen as needed.
In the Quick Project Organization Mapping screen, you can map the same owning organization to different project managers.
Note: If you use quick project templates, the Quick Project Organization Mapping screen is just one of several places from which the owning organization can default for a quick project. For each quick project template you create in Quick Project Setup Template (Projects\Configure\Project), you choose whether the owning organization default is retrieved from the Quick Project Setup Template screen, the Quick Project Organization Mapping screen, or the Project Settings screen (Administration\Configure\Projects). You can also choose to have no default owning organization. |
Use the Quick Project Organization Mapping screen only if you selected the Use Quick Project Templates checkbox in the Project Settings screen (Administration\Configure\Projects).
This is an optional configuration screen.
If you want to use the owning organization mapping, complete the mapping in this screen before you create quick project templates in the Quick Project Setup Template screen (Projects\Configure\Project).
After you complete project organization mapping, to use this mapping for a quick project template, select "Organization Mapping” in the Owning Organization Default Source field in the Basic Info tab of the Quick Project Setup Template screen.
What if a project manager is responsible for many organizations?
If a project manager is responsible for many organizations, you can enter only one owning organization as the default.
You may want to enter one of the first few levels of an organization as the mapped default owning organization. When you enter a new quick project, you can change the first level organization default before you approve the project. For example, if the default owning organization is 1.2, you can change it to 1.2.210.
What is an owning organization?
The owning organization is the "home" organization for the
project.
This organization receives all revenue and profit, as well as billed and
unbilled receivables if one of the following selections applies:
Owning Organization was selected in the Default Revenue Posting By group box in the Project Settings screen (Administration\Configure\Projects).
Owning Organization was selected in the Post Revenue to the group box in the Revenue Info screen (Projects\Maintain\Project\Project User Flow).
Enter, or use Lookup to select, an employee that corresponds with the project manager to whom you are mapping an owning organization.
After you enter a project manager in this screen, the project manager's name displays in this field.
Enter, or use Lookup to select, an owning organization to map to the project manager.
