What can I do in this screen?

Use this screen to enter combinations, using project/organization wildcards, for charging by your projects. If you selected the Orgs checkbox in the Limit group box in the Basic Info screen in the Project User Flow (Projects\Maintain\Project), the project/organization combination must exist in the project/organization wildcard table before you can post a transaction to the project.  If you did not select the Orgs checkbox in the Basic Project Info screen, any organization can charge the project.

You can maintain this table using wildcards. Wildcards not only provide for a quicker initial setup, but also ease maintenance when new branches are added to existing projects or organizations. For example, if you enter a project of "1000" as "1000%," this means that any lower levels of this project, such as "1000.001," that are added later to the system will be automatically included in this table.

In this screen, you can view the combinations to the level you desire or receive a count of the combinations that have been created. New combinations will not be available for use until you save this screen.

This screen consists of the Project Orgs table and two subtasks. Use the table and subtasks in the following manner:

When should I use this screen?

Use this screen after you have entered your projects and organizations and want to limit which organizations can charge a given project. You must use this screen any time a new project or organization has been set up that is not included in the wildcard strings.  If you have selected the Orgs checkbox in the Basic Info screen in the Project User Flow (Projects\Maintain\Project), you will not be able to charge your project until you have populated this table.

FAQs

Why should I use the Orgs checkbox in the Limit group box in the Basic Info screen?

Select the Orgs checkbox in the Basic Info screen in the Project User Flow (Projects\Maintain\Project) if you have specific orgs that are permitted to charge the project.  Once you have determined which orgs are allowed to charge the project, you can identify them in this screen.  If you have multiple companies in your database or if your customer has specific requirements regarding project charging, this feature may be useful.

How do I use the Wildcard feature?

Review the following examples for using the wildcard feature. The wildcards are "%" and "_".  Examples of their use are as follows:

% = All

%123 = Ends with 123

123% = Begins with 123

%123% = Contains 123

1_3 = Begins with 1 and ends with 3 and is 3 characters long

Note:  The "%" wildcard denotes "any character, any length," and the "_" wildcard indicates "any single character."
