Use this screen to impose a ceiling on the number of hours, by employee/by labor category, that are used in the calculation of revenue and billings for a project. These ceilings will be used in the calculation of any "Loaded Labor Hours" formulas. You cannot enter separate hours ceilings for revenue and billings.
Enter ceiling hours here at an employee/labor category level only. These ceilings are separate from any ceilings that are required at the higher labor category level. Entry of ceilings at both levels could cause a conflict.
Note: Employee hours ceilings should be placed at the revenue/billing level or below. Hours ceilings above the revenue and billing levels will not be recognized by the Calculate Bills (Projects\Process\Billing) or Compute Revenue (Projects\Process\Revenue) processes. |
The Clone Record icon is available in this screen.
Complete this screen after you have set up the project in the Basic Info screen in the Project User Flow (Projects\Maintain\Project) and after you have set up the PLCs in the Project Labor Categories (PLCs) screen (Projects\Maintain\Labor Categories). Additional maintenance is required only if an hours ceiling changes, or when a new one must be added. You must recalculate revenue and billings if you have added or changed employee hours ceilings before the changes will be reflected in revenue or billing.
Use the table window in this group box to enter ceilings on employees by labor category.
Employee *
Enter, or use Lookup to select, the employee to whom the ceiling hours apply.
The same employee can appear more than once in this column, provided you identify a separate labor category. If you selected the Project Work Force Required checkbox in the Basic Info screen in the Project User Flow (Projects\Maintain\Project), you can enter only employees set up in the Employee Work Force screen in this field.
If you have not selected the Project Employee Work Force Required field in the Basic Info screen, then you can select any active employee.
Note: Hours ceilings should be placed at the revenue/billing level or below. Hours ceilings above the revenue and billing levels will not be recognized by the Calculate Bills (Projects\Process\Billing) or Compute Revenue (Projects\Process\Revenue) processes. |
This non-editable column displays the last name of each employee in the Employee field. The employee name is defined in the Employee User Flow screen (People\Maintain\Employee).
Enter, or use Lookup to select, the Project Labor Categories (PLCs) to which ceiling hours will be applied.
If you selected the Project Work Force Required checkbox in the Basic Info screen in the Project User Flow (Projects\Maintain\Project), you must also set up the PLC for the project for the employee in the Assign PLC to Employee Work Force screen (subtask of the Empl Work Force screen in Project User Flow).
If you selected both the Project Work Force Required and the Use Top Level Work Force checkboxes in the Basic Info screen, you must also set up the PLC for the employee for the top level of the project in the Assign PLC to Employee Work Force screen. Please note that the Use Top Level Work Force checkbox does not apply to ceilings. The revenue and billing programs will look only at the revenue and billing levels or below. These programs will not look to the top level of the project for ceilings if the Use Top Level Work Force checkbox is selected. This checkbox applies only to PLC validation and defaulting.
You can enter any valid PLC that was set up in the Project Labor Categories (PLCs) screen (Projects\Maintain\Labor Categories) provided you did not select the Project Work Force Required checkbox in the Basic Info screen.
Enter the ceiling hours for the Employee/Labor Category combination. Ceiling hours can be a positive number or zero. A blank will be translated to a "0.00" hour ceiling. To ensure that no ceiling hours are imposed for a given combination, make no entry on that row.
* A red asterisk denotes a required field.
Changes to this screen update the EMPL_CEIL (Employee Hour Ceilings) table.
