Use this subtask to enter combinations, using project/organization wildcards, for charging by your projects. If you selected the Limit Orgs checkbox in the Basic Info screen, the project/organization combination must exist in the project/organization wildcard table before the transaction can be used. If the combination does not exist, the transaction cannot be used. If you did not select the Limit Orgs checkbox in the Basic Info screen, any organization can charge the project and you do not need to complete this subtask.
You can maintain this table using wildcards. Wildcards not only provide for a quicker initial setup, but also ease maintenance when new branches are added to existing projects or organizations. For example, if you enter a project of "1000" as "1000%," this means any lower levels of this project, such as "1000.001," that are added later to the system, will be automatically included in this table.
In this subtask, you can view the combinations to the level you desire or receive a count on the combinations that have been created. New combinations will not be available for use until this screen is saved.
This screen contains one table window and two subtasks. They can be used in the following manner:
The Sample Projects subtask contains the sample project/organization combinations that will be available based on the data contained in the Project Orgs table.
The Sample Organizations subtask contains the sample project/organization combinations that will be available based on the data contained in the Project Orgs table.
Use this subtask after you have entered your projects and organizations and want to limit which organizations can charge a given project. You must use this screen any time a new project or organization has been entered into Costpoint that is not included in the wildcard strings. If you have selected the Limit Orgs checkbox in the Basic Info screen, you will not be able to charge your project until you have populated this table. You do not need this screen if you have not selected the Limit Orgs checkbox for any of your projects.
Why should I use the Limit Orgs checkbox?
Use the Limit Orgs checkbox in the Basic Info screen if you have specific organizations that are permitted to charge the project. Once you have determined which organizations are allowed to charge the project, you can identify them in this screen. If you have multiple companies in your database or if your customer has specific requirements regarding project charging, this feature may be useful.
Enter a valid project for which you want to select organizations. You can enter wildcards in this field. For examples of the wildcard feature, select the Wildcard Options subtask.
Enter a valid organization that you want to validate for this project. Wildcards can be used in this field. Use the Wildcard Options subtask to see examples of wildcards.
The system will automatically populate the Project Count field when you have entered the Project Wildcard String and the Organization Wildcard String fields.
The system will automatically populate the Org Count field when the Project Wildcard String and Organization Wildcard String fields have been entered.
The system derives the number of possible combinations by multiplying the project count by the organization count.
* A red asterisk denotes a required field.
Changes to this screen update the PROJ_ORG_WILDCARD (Project Organization Wildcard) table.
