Use this subtask to create and enter conversion factors between units of measure. The conversion factors tell the system how to associate one unit of measure with another.
Set up this subtask during initialization and maintain it whenever units of measure conversions are established or modified for a specific part's unit of measure in the Characteristics tab of the Basic Info screen of the Parts User Flow.
Enter, or use Lookup to select, the unit of measure to be converted.
The data in Lookup originates from the Units of Measure screen.
Enter, or use Lookup to select, the unit of measure that the U/M From field will be converted to.
The data in Lookup originates from the Units of Measure screen.
Enter the numerical factor, up to 999,999.9999, to indicate how to convert the unit of measure in the U/M From field to the unit of measure in the U/M To field.
For example, enter "12" as the conversion factor when converting from "Dozen" to "Each."
The Conversion Factor field works in combination with the Direction field.
Use this drop-down box to select the direction in which to apply the conversion factor: "Multiply" or "Divide." The system default is "Multiply."
For example, select "Multiply" as the direction code when converting from "Dozen" to "Each."
Use this drop-down box to choose the rounding type for the U/M conversion.
The selections are system-coded and include:
Normal - no rounding at all. This is the system default.
Up - increases to the next higher whole number.
Down - lowers to the previous whole number.
* A red asterisk denotes a required field.
Changes to this screen update the UM_CONV (Units of Measure Conversion) table.
