Use this screen to close a leave period.
Although you can close a leave period using the Leave Periods screen, no validation occurs in this program. Therefore, unposted leave accrual records may exist, even after you close the period.
The Close Leave Period program, however, validates leave accrual journals before it closes one period and opens the next. If there are unposted leave accrual records in the Edit Employee Leave Accruals screen (People\Transactions\Leave), a message will display to that effect, and you will be unable to close the leave period. You may prefer to use this screen as opposed to the Leave Periods screen, since it performs record validation.
Only one leave period per leave cycle can be open at a time. You must close one leave period before any activity for the next period can take place.
You can close most leave periods using this program; however, you must close the last period of a leave year using the Close Leave Year application.
If you are satisfied with your record specifications in this screen, you must click the Action icon to close the leave period.
Initialize this screen after you execute the Post Leave (People\Process\Post) and the Print Accrued Leave Balances programs.
In addition, if you are licensed for Payroll, you should print paychecks and payment advices before you close the leave period.
