Use this screen to define the rules for calculating the number of overtime hours for a given time period (daily or weekly) for a specific state. You can define overtime rules differently for each state.
You must set up this screen before you use the Alloc Comp OT Across TS Lines screen, which ensures proper calculation of overtime hours. If you add a record in the Overtime Rules by State screen for a specific state, the system uses it to calculate overtime hours. An error will occur, however, if a Costpoint record references an overtime state that is not displayed in this screen.
You must establish overtime states for each employee in the Employee Salary Information screen.
If you set up the Overtime Rules by Location screen for a specific location and the timesheet line references that location, the system will use the Overtime Rules by Location screen instead of the Overtime Rules by State screen for those timesheet lines.
You must initialize this screen before you execute the Alloc Comp OT Across TS Lines program.
Can I change or delete overtime states from this screen?
After you have saved a record, you can edit the Overtime Basis and Exempt Hours fields, even if you have assigned the overtime state to an existing Costpoint record. You cannot, however, modify text in the Overtime State field. This field is non-editable.
If you have not assigned an overtime state to an existing Costpoint record, you can delete the record from this screen. You cannot delete the record from this screen if it has been assigned to an existing record because dependent data exists.
Enter, or use Lookup to select, the overtime state code.
Use the drop-down box to make a selection. The choices are "Daily" and "Weekly."
Daily - If you select this option, the system calculates overtime by computing the number of hours worked in a day and comparing that number to the value in the Exempt Hours field. For example, if 10 hours are worked in a day and Exempt Hours is "8," the result will be two overtime hours.
Weekly - If you select this option , the system calculates overtime by comparing the number of hours worked in a week to the value in the Exempt Hours field. For example, if 44 hours are worked in a week and Exempt Hours is "40," the result will be four overtime hours.
Enter the number of hours that are exempt from overtime classification according to the value in the Overtime Basis field.
For example, "8" is appropriate for a daily overtime basis and "40" is appropriate for a weekly overtime basis.
* A red asterisk denotes a required field.
Changes to this screen update the OT_RULES_BY_STATE (Overtime Rules By State) table.
