Refresh vs. Reset Record

Costpoint web uses two functions, Refresh and Restore Default Positioning and View, to remove unsaved changes from the screen and to restore opening defaults and changed data.

Refresh

The Refresh icon on the toolbar offers four different options for refreshing data on the screen, as follows:

This option will discard all changes and then repopulate each result set with the Query that was originally used when a result set was opened.

[If any modifications have been made, the system will warn you before discarding the changes.]

If the result set had no Query executed when it was opened, it will contain no data.

This option will return the data queried in this application to the original state in which the application was opened.

This option will discard all changes and then repopulate each result set with the current Query (used by the result set at the time that Refresh was invoked).  [If any modifications have been made, the system will warn you before discarding the changes.]

This option will discard all changes but keep the data filters (queries) currently utilized by a user.

This option is available only when the active result set is a child result set.

It results in all modifications made to only this specific child result set and all of its children result sets to be discarded and those result sets to be repopulated based on their current queries.  Neither the parent result set (header) nor the siblings of the refreshed result set with their children will be affected and will retain their data with changes.

This option will permit you to discard the changes made in a given result set without affecting changes made to the rest of the document.

This option will allow you to discard all the changes for the currently selected document (from all result sets) while keeping the changes made to other documents.

With this option, you can take advantage of the ability in Costpoint web to modify, process, and save multiple documents at a time.

Reset Default Positioning and View

As the name suggests, this toolbar option will change the positioning and view of all result sets to their defaults as they were when the application was opened. All changes made to the data (saved and unsaved) will be retained.

This option allows you to restore the “order” on the screen if you opened a number of different result sets, switched their default presentation views (e.g., from form view to table view, etc.), moved them around, and finally “got lost.”

You can also call up the Reset Default Positioning and View function by using the Shift+Alt+Z  shortcut key.
