Menu Navigation

In Costpoint web, navigation functionality is enhanced so that the menu is always accessible.  You will no longer need to close or minimize an application in order to view the menu.

The menu interaction is also structured in a manner that communicates hierarchy and groups applications by tasks and entities, thus reducing complexity and enhancing usability.

Costpoint Web Menu Levels

Domain (1st Level) represents the domain to which the application belongs, such as Accounting, People, Projects, Materials, or Administration.

Core System Action (2nd Level) represents the core system action the user performs, such as Configure, Maintain, Transactions, Process, Review, or Utilities.

Entity (3rd Level) represents an object or unit, such as a project, a plan, a ratio, a route, a BOM, or an employee, upon which you can perform the core system actions.  For example, you can "Maintain" the object or perform a "Process" on it.

Application (4th Level) represents the available applications.

Menu Display

The selected Domain tab will determine which entity options are available.  The same core system actions will be available, regardless of the domain selected.  Clicking on a core system action will display a list of entities. Positioning your cursor over an entity will display a group of applications that apply to the selected domain, action, and entity.

In Costpoint client/server, all applications are displayed in the menu.  The system checks for licensing or application rights when the user attempts to enter/open the application.

In Costpoint web, the system will only display in the menu those applications which are available to the login user. Applications for which there is no license and/or those applications not accessible due to insufficient rights will not display in the menu.

You do not need to close an application to open another application.  You can view a list of all open applications by selecting "WINDOW" from the application menu options bar (see example below).  You can also toggle between applications, close inactive applications, and close all applications.

Please refer to the Application Menu Options Bar topic in this document for more information on application functions.
