Browser Setup

General

Internet Explorer 6.x (IE6) is required to run this version of Costpoint web.  Additional browser support is planned for future versions.

You must disable any pop-up blockers OR you must expressly allow pop-ups for the Costpoint web login page. Please refer to the documentation for your pop-up blocker to determine the proper settings.

Temporary File Settings (Browser Cache)

To ensure correct Costpoint web behavior, confirm the following settings in Internet Explorer 6.x (IE6):

To prevent Costpoint web from inadvertently closing when you click on an external web link from an email or any non-browser document, also confirm this setting in Internet Explorer 6.x (IE6):

You should also make sure that you have a reasonably sized disk space allocation.  IE usually sets this value much higher than needed as a default, but if you reset this too low, it may cause problems.  A cache setting of approximately 50 MB or more should be more than adequate.  Although lower cache settings may be possible, they have not been tested at this time.

Note: These are usually the default Internet Explorer 6.x (IE6) settings, but it is possible in some cases to experience problems if the default settings have been altered.

Cookie Settings

To use Costpoint web, you must also allow “session cookies.”  Do this by setting your privacy settings to allow cookies (Low, Medium, Medium-High, or High) OR by specifically permitting “session cookies” for the Costpoint web URL.  Session cookies are "in memory" cookies that are not written to your hard drive and are destroyed when you close your browser.

To save your login settings, you must accept persistent cookies either by setting your privacy settings to allow cookies (Low, Medium, Medium-High, or High), OR by specifically allowing first-party cookies for the Costpoint web URL.

Note: You can save the User ID, System, Application, and Validation Frequency from your login settings, but you cannot save your Password.
