This group box contains sets of group boxes that establish defaults for the user's preferences. Each of these group boxes has a Use System Default radio button that will cause the system defaults to be used. These defaults can be changed in the Maintain General Preferences screen (accessed through the Preferences selection under Options on the menu bar), if the user is authorized to change any or all of these defaults. Unless otherwise specified, new users will automatically use the system defaults.
The option chosen in this group box determines the user's default for having more than one Costpoint function open at a time at a single workstation. Because inexperienced Windows users are sometimes confused by the ability of Windows to have several processes open at the same time, this option should be set with the experience of the user in mind.
Select this radio button to use the system default. The current system default is displayed next to this choice. This radio button is selected by default.
Select this radio button if you want the function that is currently open to be closed when the user tries to open a new function. If data was entered on the function being closed, the user will be given a choice to save the data first.
Select this radio button if you want the user to be asked whether the old function should be closed before the new one is opened. It will allow the user to have more than one function open, if desired.
Select this radio button if you want new functions to be opened without closing any functions already open, and without receiving a prompt as to whether the old functions should be closed. This radio button is selected by default.
Use this group box to determine whether the report criteria cover page (showing select options, sort option, and other parameters) will be printed when you run a report.
Select this radio button if you want the user to use the system default. The current system default is displayed next to this choice. This radio button is selected by default.
Select this radio button to print the report criteria for the user.
Select this radio button if you do not want the report criteria to be printed for the user.
Select this radio button if you want the user to use the system default. The current system default background color is displayed next to this choice. This radio button is selected by default.
Select this radio button if you want to use a specific color for the user instead of the system default. The current override color is displayed on the screen. To change the color, select the Modify pushbutton. The Color dialog box, where you choose or create this user's default color, will open. This screen is described in the documentation for the System Settings screen.
This non-editable field displays the color that you manually selected in the Color subtask.
Use this pushbutton to access the Color subtask. In this subtask, you can define a color using the Hue/Sat/Lum or Red/Green/Blue scales as well as the matrix to make sure you defined the color as you intended.
Select this radio button if you want the user to use the system default. The current system default is displayed next to this choice. This radio button is selected by default.
Select this radio button if you want to establish on the user's workstation a buffer of a size different from the system default. The input message buffer is the area in memory that holds the result of a query to the database. The larger it is, the faster the queries to the database, but the user will have fewer resources for other applications. The smaller the buffer is, the slower the queries, but the user can have more Windows applications open at the same time.
Enter the override number in this field. It must be in the range of "1000" to "32000" bytes.
