STARTING AND MANAGING PROCESS SERVERS

A Process Server should be thought of as another workstation executing Costpoint. The difference, of course, is that no one runs Costpoint functions at this workstation. Instead, the workstation runs Costpoint functions submitted to a queue by users at other workstations. If you think of the server as another Costpoint workstation, it is easy to see some of the requirements for running a server:

The workstation (or a user's logged-in environment, if on a network) must be able to run Windows, connect to the database, and run Costpoint.

As part of running Costpoint, the workstation must use a User ID and Password that are valid for running Costpoint.

The following items are discussed in this section: Server Startup, Automatic Server Startup, Process Server Operation, and Server Operation Management.
