PROCESS MANAGEMENT SECURITY

This section describes how the right to control the process server is determined.

Starting and Managing Queues

You can start, or change the status of, a process queue only by having full access rights to the Maintain Queues screen.

Starting and Managing Servers

You can start a server only if the Start Server checkbox in the Maintain Users screen in Costpoint System Administration is selected for that user.

You can change the status of a server only by having full access rights to the Change Server Status screen.

Submitting Entries to a Queue

You can submit processes to a queue only if you have rights to the Submit Process to Queue screen.

You can submit entries to a queue from a report, compute, or posting function only by having full access rights to that function.

Managing Queue Entries

You can change and delete all queue entries in all queues, submitted by all users, only by having full access rights to the Maintain Queues screen.

You can change and delete queue entries submitted by the same User ID only if you have rights to the Change/Monitor Process Status screen.

Changing the Behavior of Process Queue Entries

Since queue entries use stored function parameters, you can affect the behavior of a queue entry by changing the stored parameters.

If you have full access rights to a function, you can change any of the parameters stored for that function. If one of the changed parameters is referenced by a queue entry, you have changed the way that queue entry will behave.

Access to the Process Server Workstation

Any user who walks up to a workstation running a process server can shut it down by selecting the Stop pushbutton. You can prevent this by locking the keyboard of the workstation, but the user can still reboot the workstation. To ensure security of the server, it is best to have the workstation in a secure location.
