APPLY INDIRECT COSTS TO BUDGETS

Use this screen to create or update budgeted indirect costs with computed pool rates. This screen updates projects with computed actual or target rates, and applies the rates to budgeted direct costs to arrive at budgeted indirect amounts. You can specify the projects and subperiods to be updated.

The budget revision updated is always the revision identified as "current" in the Maintain Budget Revisions screen (Projects » Budgeting and ETC » Period Budgets). If you want to apply indirect costs to budgets using a different budget revision, you must make the desired budget revision the "current" one in the Maintain Budget Revisions screen. If you change the "current" budget revision after running this screen, your budgeted direct cost and indirect cost data will not tie out properly.

This screen will update using either current or year-to-date rates depending on the rate method being used by your company. The rate method is usually determined during Costpoint initialization in the Project Settings screen (Projects » Project Setup » Controls). The rates used by this screen (Apply Indirect Costs to Budgets) are stored in the Pool Rate table. They will be applied to direct costs based upon the mapping of accounts/organizations to cost pools. Rates stored in the primary allocation group (those applied to projects) are used by this screen.

Run this screen any time after setting up project direct budgets. Because rates are stored in the Pool Rate table by fiscal year, period, and pool, you must first compute indirect rates for all periods if you are using actual rates or enter the indirect rates if you are using target rates.
