Use this screen to enter combinations, using project/account wildcards for charging by your projects. If you select the Limit Accounts check box in the Maintain Project Master screen (Projects » Project Setup » Project Master) or the Basic Info screen (Projects » Project Setup » Project Master), the project/account combination must exist in the project/account wildcard before the transaction can be used. If the combination does not exist, the transaction cannot be used. If you do not select the Limit Accounts check box, any account in the project account group can charge the project.
You can maintain this table using wildcards. Wildcards not only provide for a quicker initial setup but also ease maintenance when new branches are added to existing projects or accounts. For example, if you enter a project of "1000" as 1000%, this means any lower levels of this project, such as "1000.001" that are added later to the system will be automatically included in this table.
In this screen, you can view the combinations to the level you desire or to receive a count on the combinations that have been created. New combinations will not be available for use until this screen is saved.
For more information on project/account/organization validations, please see Projects Special Topic PJ-17, "Proj/Acct/Org Validations."
Use this screen after you have entered your projects and accounts and want to limit which accounts can charge a given project. You must use this screen any time a new project or account has been entered into the system that is not included in the wildcard strings.
Use the table window to enter the project and accounts combinations that you want to validate.
Enter a valid project for which you want to select accounts. You can enter wildcards in this field. For examples of the wildcard feature, click the Entry Options button.
Enter a valid account that you want to validate for this project. Wildcards can be used in this field.
To receive a count on the number of projects that are included in a given project wildcard string, highlight the table window row, then click the Project Count button. The number of projects that will be valid for the accounts on the same row will appear in the display-only window.
To receive a count on the number of accounts that are included in a given account wildcard string, highlight the table window row, then click the Account Count button. The number of accounts that will be valid for the projects on the same row will appear in the non-editable window.
The system derives the number of possible combinations by multiplying the Project Count by the Account Count. This value will not display in the non-editable window until you have populated the Project Count and the Account Count fields.
Click this button to display the projects for a given project wildcard string in the Sample Projects table window. If you leave the starting point field blank, the system will display all the projects in the wildcard string. You can limit the projects that you want to display by entering a starting character string. The system will display the projects that begin with that same string as well as the projects that follow it. Note that this field does not use wildcards or work like a field that does use wildcards. It displays all projects in a given wildcard string beginning with a specified starting point. You can use this functionality to ensure that your project/account wildcard has been set up properly.
Click this button to see a screen that provides examples for using the wildcard feature. The wildcards are % and _. Examples of their use are as follows:
% = All
%123 = Ends with 123
123% = Begins with 123
%123% = Contains 123
1_3 = Begins with 1 and ends with 3 and is 3 characters long
Click this button to display the accounts for a given account wildcard string in the Sample Accounts table window. If you leave the starting point field blank, the system will display all the accounts in the wildcard string. You can limit the accounts that you want to display by entering a starting character string. The system will display the accounts that begin with that same string as well as the accounts that follow it. Note that this field does not use wildcards or work like a field that does use wildcards. It displays all accounts in a given wildcard string beginning with a specified starting point. You can use this functionality to ensure that your project/account wildcard has been set up properly.
