PROJECT HOURS CEILINGS

Use this screen to impose a ceiling on the number of hours that are used in the calculation of revenue and billings, for each labor category for a project. These ceilings will be used in the calculation of any Loaded Labor Hours formulas. You cannot enter separate hours ceilings for revenue and billings.

Enter ceiling hours here at a labor category level ONLY. These ceilings are separate from any ceilings that are required at an Employee/Labor Category level or a Vendor/Labor Category level, and entry of ceilings at both levels could cause a conflict.

Use this screen to initially set up ceilings on hours that can be used in the calculation of billing and revenue. Complete this screen after you have set up the project in the Basic Info screen (Projects » Project Setup » Project Master) and after you have set up the PLCs in the Set Up Project Labor Categories (PLC) screen (Projects » Project Setup » Project Labor). Additional maintenance of the data on this screen is required only if changes or additions must be made.

Project

Enter, or use to select, a valid project for which to enter data. This is a required field. The field to the right of the project displays the project description.

Place the hours ceilings at the billing and revenue levels or below. The system will ignore any hours ceilings above these levels.

If you have inactivated a project in the Basic Info screen, or if the project does not allow charging, you can enter it in this field. However, inactive projects or projects that do not allow charging are not available for selection in .

Direct Hours Ceilings

Labor Cat

Enter, or use to select, the Project Labor Categories (PLCs) to which ceiling hours will be applied.

The only PLCs that are valid for data entry in this field are those that were assigned to the project in the Assign PLC to Projects screen (Projects » Project Setup » Project Labor).

If you assigned PLCs to the top-level project in the Assign PLC to Projects screen and you selected the Use Top Level Work Force check box in the Basic Info screen (Projects » Project Setup » Project Master) for the project entered, only those PLCs that are assigned to the top-level project are valid for data entry in this field.  If you did not assign PLCs either to the project or to the top level project and you selected the Use Top Level Work Force check box in the Basic Info screen, all PLCs that were defined in the Set Up Project Labor Categories (PLC) screen (Projects » Project Setup » Project Labor) are valid for data entry in this field.

Please note that the Use Top Level Work Force check box in the Maintain Project Master screen (Projects » Project Setup » Project Master) or the Basic Info screen does not apply to ceilings.  The revenue and billings programs will not look for ceilings at the top level of the project if this check box is selected. The Use Top Level Work Force check box applies only to PLC validation and defaulting.

This is a required field.

Labor Category Description

This column displays the description of each PLC displayed in the Labor Cat column.

You have already defined global PLC descriptions in the Set Up Project Labor Categories (PLC) screen (Projects » Project Setup » Project Labor) and you defined project-specific PLC descriptions in the Assign PLC to Projects screen.

If you defined a project-specific PLC description, it will display in this column. Otherwise, the global PLC description displays in this column by default.

Hours Ceiling

Enter the ceiling hours for the labor category. Ceiling hours can be positive or zero. A blank will be translated to a "0.00" hour ceiling. To ensure that no ceiling hours are imposed for a given labor category, make no entry on that row.
