Use this screen to impose a ceiling on the number of hours, by employee/by labor category, that are used in the calculation of revenue and billings for a project. These ceilings will be used in the calculation of any Loaded Labor Hours formulas. You cannot enter separate hours ceilings for revenue and billings.
Enter ceiling hours here at an employee/labor category level only. These ceilings are separate from any ceilings that are required at the higher labor category level. Entry of ceilings at both levels could cause a conflict.
Use this screen to set up ceilings on employee hours used in the calculation of billing and revenue. Complete this screen after you have set up the project in the Basic Info screen and after you have set up the PLCs in the Set Up Project Labor Categories (PLC) screen (Projects » Project Setup » Project Labor). Additional maintenance is required only if an hours ceiling changes, or when a new one must be added.
Enter, or use to select, a valid project for which to enter data. You can enter projects even if they have not been allowed for charging in the Basic Info screen (Projects » Project Setup » Project Master). The project level entered here should be at the revenue and billing levels or below. This is a required field. The field to the right of the project displays the project description, which is defined in the Basic Info screen.
Enter, or use to select, the employee to whom the ceiling hours apply. The same employee can appear more than once in this column, provided you identify a separate labor category. If you selected the Project Work Force Required check box in the Basic Info screen (Projects » Project Setup » Project Master), you can enter only employees set up in the Project Employee Work Force screen (Projects » Project Setup » Project Labor) in this field. This is a required field.
This non-editable column displays the last name of each employee in the Employee column. The employee name is defined in the Basic Employee Info screen (People » Employee » Basic Employee Setup) in Costpoint Employee.
Enter, or use to select, the Project Labor Categories (PLCs) to which ceiling hours will be applied.
If you selected the Project Work Force Required check box in the Basic Info screen (Projects » Project Setup » Project Master), you must also set up the PLC for the project for the employee in the Assign PLC to Employee Work Force screen.
If you selected both the Project Work Force Required and the Use Top Level Work Force check boxes in the Basic Info screen, you must also set up the PLC for the employee for the top level of the project in the Assign PLC to Employee Work Force screen. Please note that the Use Top Level Work Force check box does not apply to ceilings. The revenue and billing programs will look only at the revenue and billing levels or below. These programs will not look to the top level of the project for ceilings if the Use Top Level Work Force check box is selected. This check box applies only to PLC validation and defaulting.
You can enter any valid PLC that was set up in the Set Up Project Labor Categories (PLC) screen (Projects » Project Setup » Project Labor) provided you did not select the Project Work Force Required check box in the Basic Info screen.
This is a required field.
Enter the ceiling hours for the Employee/Labor Cat combination. Ceiling hours can be a positive number or zero. A blank will be translated to a "0.00" hour ceiling. To ensure that no ceiling hours are imposed for a given combination, make no entry on that row.
Changes to this screen update the EMPL_CEIL table.
