Use this subtask to create units of measure conversions using the codes established in the main screen. This conversion tells the system how it can connect one unit of measure to another. In this subtask, you will identify the conversion direction and conversion factor.
Set up this subtask during initialization and maintain it whenever units of measure conversions are established or modified for a given part's unit of measure in the Basic Part Data screen, or the Planning subtask in the Maintain Parts screen or Planning Part Data screen.
This group box displays the unit of measure from which the conversion is taking place.
The unit of measure code and description being converted "from" will be displayed.
Use this group box to enter the available units of measure to which the "from" unit of measure can be converted. In order to select, highlight rows in this table and click on the Select pushbutton.
Enter a search string for the units of measure. Based on the string entered, the appropriate units of measure code and description will display at the top of the table window.
The current list of available units of measure codes and their descriptions will be displayed. These units of measure have already been established in the main screen. They will be displayed by code in alphanumeric order.
This group box displays the units of measure that have been selected for a conversion. In order to deselect units of measure, highlight the rows in this table and click on the Deselect pushbutton.
The units of measure code for the unit of measure selected from the To Units of Measure group box will automatically display.
Enter the factor that will indicate how to convert the "from" unit of measure to the "to" unit of measure. The conversion factor is a numeric value that will be either multiplied or divided by the "from" quantity to get to the "to" quantity. For example, enter "12" as the conversion factor when converting from "Dozen" to "Each." The Conv Factor works in combination with the Direction column. This column is required.
Enter "M" (Multiply) or "D" (Divide) to indicate how to convert the "from" unit of measure to the "to" unit of measure. This field is required. The system will default to "M" (Multiply) if you enter no direction. For example, enter "M" as the direction code when converting from "Dozen" to "Each."
Enter the rounding type that will aid in the conversion process. The rounding type is a code indicating the system-defined rounding methods. The possible rounding types that are available are: "N" (Normal rounding rules) = for no rounding at all, "U" (Up) = to increase to the next higher whole number, or "D" (Down) = to lower to the previous whole number. This field is required. The system will default to "N" (Normal) if you enter no round type.

To select, highlight the codes and descriptions that you want from the To Units of Measure group box and choose the Select pushbutton. The code(s) selected will move to the Selected To Units of Measure group box. To deselect, highlight the codes and descriptions you want in the Selected To Units of Measure group box and choose the Deselect pushbutton. The code(s) selected will move back over to the To Units of Measure group box.
