Use this screen to load currency exchange rates into Costpoint. After downloading rates from an outside source (Wall Street Journal, Internet, etc.), use this screen to enter those rates into Costpoint without keying in each rate. Using this screen helps avoid entry errors.
The system uses exchange rates to compute unrealized gains or losses. This screen makes it easy to upload daily exchange rates into the system.
Before running this screen, you must create an input file containing the currencies in which your company conducts business. The input file must be either in text or Comma-Separated Value (CSV) format. You can upload exchange rates into your input file (via the Internet, for example) before loading them into Costpoint.
Run this screen before entering any multicurrency transactions to ensure that the most recent exchange rates are used.
Use the Select pushbutton to access the exchange rates file that you previously saved. This will load the exchange rates into Costpoint. Please be careful when naming your exchange rate files so new dates are not overwritten with old exchange rate information.
Select this radio button if your exchange rate data has been loaded as a text file.
Select this radio button if your exchange rate data has been loaded as a comma-separated file.
Each record in the input file has three data elements:
Currency code
Rate from this currency to the currency entered on the report screen.
Rate to this currency from the currency entered on the report screen.
Example: If you enter the Code "USD" (U.S. Dollars) on this screen, the input file will appear as follows (depending on the format you selected):
Text format: GBP 1.64072 0.609487
CSV format: "GBP", 1.64072, 0.609487
1.64072 is the GBP-to-USD rate.
0.609487 is the USD-to-GBP rate.
Enter, or use Lookup to select, the rate group to receive the exchange rates. The exchange rate group was originally set up in the Maintain Exchange Rate Groups screen.
Enter, or use Lookup to select, a currency. Currency pairings are saved in the Maintain Exchange Rate Groups screen.
Today's date will automatically populate this editable field.
Most often you will leave this field blank. This field allows for the Start Date, and all dates thereafter, to use the uploaded rate. To change the rate, upload another rate with a later Start Date.
To limit the use of this rate, enter the last date that transactions can be entered with this rate. This date can be the same as the Start Date, but cannot be earlier. This field is optional.
Use this optional field to record any notes, up to 254 characters in length.
Changes to this screen update the RT_BY_DT table.
