UPDATE LOW-LEVEL CODES

Use this screen to perform three functions, depending on which checkbox you select: Update Low Level Code, Check for Looping Parts, or Change Selected Parts from No Planning Option to MRP Planned. You can also specify a range of parts and revisions you want the process run against.

Use this screen when initializing MRP for the first time (after loading manufacturing bills of material), or if there is reason to believe that there could be a looping part in the Bills of Material. You can also use this function to change planning type codes (to MRP Planned) for all parts that have no planning type code.

Select Part/Rev

Range Option

Use this drop-down box to select the range of parts you want to include in this update. Valid options are "All," "One," "Range," "From Beginning," and "To End." The default for this field is "All."

From Part

Use Lookup or enter the starting part number for the range you want to include in this update. If you select "All" or "From Beginning" in the Range Option field, this field will be inactive.

Rev

Use Lookup or enter the starting part's revision number for the range you want to include in this update. If you select "All" or "From Beginning" in the Range Option field, this field will be inactive.

To Part

Use Lookup or enter the ending part's revision number for the range you want to include in this update. If you select "All," "One," or "To End" in the Range Option field, this field will be inactive.

Rev

Use Lookup or enter the revised ending part number for the range you want to include in this update. If you select "All," "One," or "To End" in the Range Option field, this field will be inactive.

Update Low Level Code

Select this checkbox to update the low-level codes for the selected range of parts.

When you select this checkbox, the system first updates the low-level code of parts within the selected range. The low-level code is used to determine the processing order of parts when performing an MRP run. Updates to low-level code also occur within the Manufacturing BOM maintenance programs and MRP itself, but this process is a comprehensive update of these codes.

Check for Looping Parts

Select this checkbox to check Manufacturing Bills of Material for looping part numbers.

When you select this checkbox, the process looks for looping Manufacturing Bills of Material (i.e., where a part exists as a parent to itself somewhere in its multilevel BOM). If such is found, the part and its where-used information will be listed in an exception report.

Change Selected Parts from No Planning Option to MRP Planned

Select this checkbox to update parts with a Plan Type of "None" to a Plan Type of "MRP."

When you select this checkbox, all the parts within the selected range with a Planning Type currently equal to "N" (None) are changed to "P" (MRP).
