Planning Routings Menu

Use Planning Routings screens to establish planning routing records for end item parts used in the Master Production Schedule process. End item parts are typically defined as MPS planned parts in the Planning Part Data screen in Product Definition, but you can also define planning routings for MRP planned parts if they have independent demand (such as sales orders, forecasts, or project reservations).

These planning routing records are used to develop rough-cut capacity plans, which estimate how much and when key resources will be consumed for a given production schedule.

Use these screens only after you have defined key resources in the Key Resources screen of the MPS Controls (or Routings Controls) Menu. To use the Calculate Planning Routings function, you should also make sure manufacturing bills of material and routings are set up for the end items and their subassemblies.

Menu Options

Calculate Planning Routings—Use the Calculate Planning Routings screen to calculate planning routings records for MPS and MRP planned end item parts. Costpoint calculates this routing record by linking end item parts to the key resources needed in production.

Maintain Planning Routings—Use the Maintain Planning Routings screen to add, change, or delete planning routing records for MPS and MRP planned end item parts. You can link the end item part to a key resource required for production and specify how many units of the key resource will be required and when that resource will be consumed.
