Use this screen to create or overwrite proposal bills of material. You can copy proposal BOMs from specified Engineering BOMs, Manufacturing BOMs, and other Proposal BOMs. Multi-level BOM copies are supported. For example, select the Proposal (All PBOMs) radio button to copy all PBOMs for a specified "from" proposal to another proposal ("To PBOM") for proposal lines with the same end items. If the To PBOM already exists, you can overwrite the existing PBOM with the BOM in the From Assembly.
Below is an outline of what is required when copying the BOM source:

The parts/assemblies that are being copied in this screen must have already been established in the appropriate Bills of Material (e.g., MBOM, EBOM and/or PBOM) application.
Select one of four radio buttons in this group box to indicate the type of BOM that is being copied (i.e., the "From" copy option). Subsequently, the BOM rows that will be validated or "exploded," then copied from the "From" assembly, also depend on the level(s) selected in the BOM Levels group box. When you copy MBOM or EBOM lines, both unreleased and released components are copied.
Select this radio button to explode the Engineering BOM for the From Assembly Part/Revision according to the number of levels specified in the BOM Levels group box. The exploded EBOM rows will then be available for copying to the To PBOM. When you select this radio button, the fields in the From Proposal group box are cleared and disabled.
Select this radio button to explode the Manufacturing BOM for the From Assembly Part/Revision according to the number of levels specified in the BOM Levels group box. The exploded MBOM header and line rows will then be available for copying to the To PBOM. When you select this radio button, the fields in the From Proposal group box are cleared and disabled.
Select this radio button to explode the Proposal BOM for the From Proposal and From Assembly Part/Revision according to the number of levels specified in the BOM Levels group box. The exploded PBOM rows will then be available for copying to the To PBOM.
Selecting this radio button disables the fields in the From Assembly, as well as the To PBOM Assembly Part and revision fields. If the following conditions are met, each end item/revision will be exploded if:
The end item/revision exists in a PBOM.
The end item/revision exists as an assembly part in a PBOM.
The end item/revision exists in a proposal line row for both the From and To Proposal/Revisions. However, if you selected the Freeze PBOMs checkbox for the To Proposal record (in the Maintain Proposal Master screen), the PBOM will not be copied.
Enter, or use Lookup to select, the proposal ID (and revision, if applicable) from which PBOMs will be copied. This field must be populated if you select the Proposal BOM or Proposal (All PBOMs) radio buttons. PBOM information must exist for the selected proposal in order for it to be successfully copied to the target PBOM. The proposal description displays in the field below.
Enter the revision of the proposal from which PBOMs will be copied.
Use the radio buttons in this group box to choose whether the copy function will copy the first-level components of the assembly, the entire assembly BOM through all the levels, or an indented assembly BOM through a specified number of levels.
Select this radio button to copy only the first-level components of this assembly.
Select this radio button to copy the entire assembly BOM through all applicable subassembly levels.
Select this radio button to copy the BOM through a specified number of levels, as entered in the adjacent field.
Use the fields in this group box to specify the source assembly whose BOM is being copied. In accordance with your selections in the Select BOM Source group box, the BOM Levels group box, and the Copy Options subtask, the BOM for the part/revision that is populated in this group box will be exploded and copied to the target proposal and/or assembly part/revision in the To PBOM group box.
Enter, use Lookup, or use the Lookup Prov Part pushbutton to select, the standard or provisional part ID of the assembly or parent part from which the BOM is to be copied. If applicable, the part revision number displays in the Rev field and can be changed if multiple revisions are being used. If the source BOM is an MBOM, you cannot enter a provisional part/revision in these fields. If the Proposal (All PBOMs) radio button is selected as the BOM source, these fields are cleared and disabled. The description of the part/provisional part displays in the field to the right.
Use the options in this group box to customize bills of material for a given parent part by specifying configuration options and effectivity dates in the From Assembly. You can copy a specific configuration of a BOM, or the BOM as of a certain date, or all configurations/effectivities for a given parent assembly. You can assign serial number ranges to a part's configuration and as-of date information in the Maintain End Item Configurations screen in Costpoint Bills of Material.
This field is enabled and required when copying an EBOM or an MBOM. Enter the effectivity date the process will use to determine which components to copy. This field defaults with the current system date and can be changed so that the system will copy only those component lines for the BOM in the From Assembly that are currently within effectivity for the supplied As of Date, where the Effective Start Date is earlier than or the same as the As Of Date, and the Effective End Date is blank or later than the As Of Date.
This field is enabled (and optional) when copying an EBOM or an MBOM, and the Use Configuration IDs checkbox must be selected in the BOM Corporate Settings subtask of the BOM Settings screen in Costpoint Bills of Material. Enter, or use Lookup to select, the ID of the configuration in which the system will search for component lines for that parent assembly, and copy the component line with the selected configuration ID.
Use Lookup to view the range of assembly serial numbers with their associated configurations and as-of dates, as established in the Maintain End Item Configurations screen in Costpoint Bills of Material. If you select a row in Lookup, Costpoint will load the proper configuration and/or as-of date. This field is for lookup purposes only; you cannot enter a serial number. Effectivity is determined by the Configuration and As Of Date fields only.
Use this group box to specify the proposal ID/revision and assembly part/revision (if applicable) to which the source BOM is being copied.
Enter, or use Lookup to select, the proposal ID/revision to which the source BOM will be copied. This field must be populated for any BOM source. PBOM information must exist for the selected From proposal in order for it to be successfully copied to the target PBOM. The proposal description displays in the field to the right.
Enter, use Lookup, or use the Lookup Prov Part pushbutton to select, the standard or provisional part ID of the assembly or parent part to which the BOM is being copied. If the Proposal (All PBOMs) radio button is selected as the BOM source, these fields are cleared and disabled. The description of the part/provisional part displays in the field to the right.
Select the status that will be assigned to the new PBOM. Valid selections are "Firmed" and "Unfirmed." When the PBOM status is "Unfirmed," the PBOM is not complete, and may have ongoing changes with regard to component part and pricing information. When the PBOM status is "Firmed," the PBOM is complete and may be used for pricing purposes.
Enter the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) that will be assigned to PBOM components.
Select this pushbutton to specify which components are copied from the From Proposal to the To PBOM.
Select this pushbutton to look up the provisional part ID and revision in the From Assembly's Part or Rev fields, or the To PBOM's Assy Part or Rev fields. Provisional parts are originally established in the Maintain Provisional Parts screen in Costpoint Product Definition and Materials Estimating. If the BOM source is an MBOM, provisional parts are not used.
When you select the Copy Proposal BOM and Print Report button (or the Copy Proposal BOM button, followed by the Print button) on the toolbar, the application will print a report listing the PBOM(s) in indented BOM format. You can also run the report in Trial Run (by selecting the Print button) and Preview modes to see which PBOM(s) will be generated with the entered selection criteria. If you run in Trial Run or Preview mode, the printed BOM format reflects how the PBOM will appear after the copy process is executed. If you print multiple end items, they are sorted by item ID with a page break in between.
If you run the process without selecting the Replace Existing PBOMs and Cost Data checkbox in the Copy Options subtask, a new report column will display which lines already existed on the PBOM before the copy occurred. A "Y" (Yes) will display in this column for such lines.
