Perform PBOM Mass Component Change

Use this screen to replace and/or delete a number of standard or provisional parts simultaneously from proposal bills of material assemblies.  Select a proposal or a range of proposals whose PBOM(s) will have the component part replaced or deleted. The process will replace/delete the From part only where it appears as a component in a PBOM; however, if the From part also exists as an assembly or end item, that information will not be changed.

To execute this application, you must establish PBOM assemblies, components, and subassemblies for the proposal or proposal range to be processed.

Replace or Delete Options

Select one of two radio buttons in this group box to specify how the process should be executed.

Replace From Component with To Component

Selecting this radio button activates the Part field in the To Component group box. Select this radio button to have the process replace the part that is listed in the From Component group box with the part in the To Component group box for a specified proposal and its PBOM line.   Additionally, the To Part's Part Type, Component Type, and Make/Buy code will be updated for each applicable PBOM line.

Delete From Component

Selecting this radio button disables the Part field in the To Component group box. Select this radio button to have the process delete the part that is listed in the From Component group box from a specified proposal and its PBOM line. If the component exists in the selected PBOM line, the PBOM line will be deleted.

Select Proposals to Update

Use this group box to select a proposal or range of proposals to be updated or have component parts deleted.

Range Option

Select a range of proposal IDs to include in the component part replacement/deletion process. The system-defined selections in this drop-down box include "All," "One," "Range," "From Beginning," and "To End." The default for this field is "One."

From/Rev

Enter, or use Lookup to select, the beginning proposal ID whose PBOM will have the component part replaced or deleted. You can also enter, or use Lookup to select, the revision number of the proposal, if applicable. This field is enabled only if you selected "One," "Range" or "To End" in the Range Option drop-down box.

To/Rev

Enter, or use Lookup to select, the ending proposal ID whose PBOM will have the component part replaced or deleted. You can also enter, or use Lookup to select, the revision number of the proposal, if applicable. This field is enabled if you selected "Range" or "From Beginning" in the Range Option drop-down box.

Select Proposal Statuses

Use this group box to have the system select only those PBOMs for each proposal listed in the Select Proposals to Update group box according to the proposal status. For each PBOM that is selected by the system, the proposal's status is compared to the status selections in this group box, and the PBOM line is matched with the proposal record.  Select all checkboxes in this group box to have the system process all PBOM line rows, regardless of the proposal status.

In Process

If you select this checkbox, only those PBOM line rows with a proposal status of "In-Process" will be included in the process.

Submitted

If you select this checkbox, only those PBOM line rows with a proposal status of "Submitted" will be included in the process.

Completed

If you select this checkbox, only those PBOM line rows with a proposal status of "Completed" will be included in the process

Closed

If you select this checkbox, only those PBOM line rows with a proposal status of "Closed" will be included in the process

Update Frozen PBOMs

Select this checkbox to include any PBOM line rows whose Freeze PBOMs checkbox is selected for the associated proposal in the Maintain Proposal Master screen.

From Component

Use this group box to specify the component part that is being replaced or deleted in accordance with the settings in the Replace or Delete Options, Select Proposals to Update, and Select Proposal Statuses group boxes.

Part, Rev

Enter, use Lookup, or use the Prov Part Lookup pushbutton to select the ID of the component part and revision (if applicable) that is to be replaced or deleted. This field can have up to 30 alphanumeric characters and must be a valid part number from the Maintain Parts screen in Costpoint Product Definition (for standard parts), or from the Maintain Provisional Parts screen in Costpoint Product Definition or Costpoint Materials Estimating (for provisional parts).  Use standard Lookup to look up standard parts, or select the Prov Part Lookup pushbutton to look up provisional parts. The part description will display in the field below.

If you selected the Replace From Component with To Component radio button in the Replace or Delete Options group box, the part that you enter in this field will be replaced with the part entered in the To Component group box for all PBOMs depending on the selections in the other group boxes in this screen. If you selected the Delete From Component radio button in the Replace or Delete Options group box, the PBOM line will be deleted.

These non-editable fields default from the Maintain Parts screen in Costpoint Product Definition (for standard parts), or from the Maintain Provisional Parts screen in Costpoint Product Definition or Costpoint Materials Estimating (for provisional parts).

Provisional Part Type

If the part ID is a provisional part, this field will display from the user-defined Provisional Part Type field in the Maintain Provisional Parts screen in Costpoint Product Definition or Costpoint Materials Estimating.  You can establish provisional part type codes in Costpoint Product Definition or Costpoint Materials Estimating. Printing and Processing

When you populate this screen (and verify the information in the Assemblies subtask), you can select the Save button on the toolbar to save the settings in this screen for future reference.  However, in order to preview, print, or process the settings as they appear for this application, select the following options from the toolbar at the top of the screen (all eligible PBOM line rows selected in the process above will appear along with proposal information):

Perform PBOM Mass Component Change

Select this button on the toolbar to process the application in accordance with the settings in this screen. Once the process has been completed, it cannot be reversed automatically.

Perform PBOM Mass Component Change and Print Report

Select this button on the toolbar to process the application and print the report in accordance with the settings in this screen. The report will be sorted in Proposal, Proposal Revision, Assembly Part, and Assembly Revision order. Once the process has been completed, it cannot be reversed automatically.

Note: If you made a mistake by replacing the From Component with the To Component and would like to reverse the process, simply transpose part IDs in the From and To Component fields (i.e., the opposite of what originally appeared in the screen) and re-run the process for the same proposal range and statuses.
