Use this screen to enter provisional part type codes and their descriptions. You will assign the provisional part type to provisional parts when you enter parts in the Maintain Provisional Parts screen in either Costpoint Product Definition or Costpoint Materials Estimating. You can also add provisional parts on the fly in the Maintain Proposal Master, Maintain PBOMs, Maintain EBOMs, and Release EBOMs screens.
When you access this screen for the first time, it will display two system-defined provisional part types: "MFG" (Manufacturer Part) and "VEN" (Vendor Part). You can add additional types.
You must establish provisional part type codes and their descriptions in this screen before entering provisional part data in the Maintain Provisional Parts screen. Provisional part data is stored in a separate table from the standard part data that is established in the Maintain Parts menu in Costpoint Product Definition. You can also access this screen in Costpoint Product Definition.
After selecting the New Line button on the toolbar, enter up to three alphanumeric characters for the provisional part type code. The system will display an error message if you enter two of the same Type codes in this table. Similarly, you can also use the Line menu to Insert, Delete, or Undelete lines from this table.
After entering the provisional part type code, tab to the Description field and enter up to 30 alphanumeric characters to describe the provisional part Type code.
Enter "M" (Manufacturer) or "V" (Vendor) to classify this provisional part type code as a manufacturer part or a vendor part. This assigned value allows you to look up existing manufacturer or vendor part numbers when adding a new provisional part.
