Use this screen to view user-defined labels set up in the Employee User-Defined Labels screen. You can use the Values field, in conjunction with the labels you already established, to enter employee-specific information. Once established, the tables display the labels that pertain to their data type. For example, the date table displays the date labels assigned to a specific employee.
Set up the labels and validated text for these user-defined fields in the Employee User-Defined Labels screen before you enter this screen. You must also set up employees in the Basic Employee Info screen.
Use Find or Query to select the ID for the employee for whom you want to enter data. You must have already set up the employee in the Basic Employee Info screen before adding him here. After you enter the employee ID, the employee's name is displayed to the right.
This field, which is defined for each row in the Employee User-Defined Labels screen, displays the data type that determines which category of text is allowed in the Values field: "D" (Date) allows entry of only a date; "N" (Numeric) allows entry of only a number; and "T" (Text) allows entry of alphanumeric text. If the Required column is "Y" (Yes), you must populate the Values field.
This field displays up to 20 alphanumeric characters that were entered in the Employee User-Defined Labels screen. You can assign values to the selected employee.
If the Data Type for the selected row is "T" (Text) and the Validated Text field contains a "Y" (Yes), enter, or use Lookup to select, a text row for this label that was established in the Validated Text subtask of the Employee User-Defined Labels screen. If the Data Type is "T" and the Validated Text field is "N" (No), enter, or use Lookup to select, a column from an already existing data table.
If the Data Type is "D" (Date), enter an employee-specific date based on the label for the selected row. If the data type is "N" (numeric), enter an employee-specific numeric value based on the label. If the Required column is "Y" (Yes), you must populate the Values field.
This field displays the selected column from an already existing data table when the Validated Text field is "N" and the data type for the label is "T" (Text) in the Employee User-Defined Labels screen.
This field displays a "Y" (Yes) if entries for this label are restricted to specific alphanumeric text in the Values column and the Data Type for the label is "T" (Text). You can maintain text rows and their descriptions in the Validated Text subtask of the Employee User-Defined-Labels screen.
This field displays a "Y" (Yes) if the user-defined information in the Values column is required.
Changes to this screen update the GENL_UDEF table.
