UPLOAD SALARY SURVEY DATA

Summary

Use this screen to upload salary survey data from a formatted flat file. The file specifications are listed at the end of this section.

Timing

Use this application once you have established survey companies, set up survey regions, and defined the linkage between survey job titles and functional job titles.

Year

Enter the four-digit year for the year in which the salary survey was done. This field is required.

Survey Company

Enter, or use Lookup to select, the survey company ID for the survey company to be updated. This is a required field.

Replace Existing Values

Select this checkbox if you want existing rows for this combination of Year and Survey Company to be cleared and the new data from the upload file to replace it. If you do not select this checkbox, the system will upload only rows that do not already exist in the current tables.

Input File

Use this group box to select the source file for the data upload.

Select

Select this pushbutton to activate the Open File Windows dialog box and select the data file that will be uploaded. You can also directly enter a file path that specifies the location for the data file in the field next to the Select pushbutton.

Report Status

This read-only field displays the status of the report as either "Report Printed" or "Report Not Printed."

Note:  After printing the report, you will still be in the application and the screen will have the "Report Printed" status displayed. You can then select the Upload Salary Survey Data button on the toolbar, at which time the process will proceed.

When you change any of the print options or selection criteria after having printed the report, the Report Status field is updated, and the Upload Salary Survey Data button on the toolbar is grayed-out. You will have to print the journal reports again before the posting process can occur. If you select the Process/Print button on the toolbar after having changed a parameter, the report prints automatically as a part of the upload process, as discussed below.

Upload Salary Survey Data

When you first enter this screen, this button on the toolbar is grayed-out; it becomes available after you print the journal report. If you select this button after having printed the journal report as part of this session, you will receive a message box asking if you really intend to upload. If you answer OK, the upload process will proceed.

Process/Print

You can select this button on the toolbar when you first enter the screen. If you do, you will receive a message box asking if you really intend to upload. If you answer OK, the journal report prints with the upload following immediately.

After upload has begun, a "DO NOT INTERRUPT" message and a message showing records processed will display.
