COMPENSATION SETTINGS

Use this screen to select high-level parameters for operating Costpoint Compensation. You can use a default compensation plan, require summary job titles, choose validation criteria when reassigning employees to a compensation plan, and select a method for assigning review forms. Additionally, you can use this screen to establish how you wish to round dollars for an employee's actual salary increase and for setting up company-wide budgets.

Enter this information as part of your initial Costpoint Human Resources setup. If you have one compensation plan that you use exclusively or most of the time, return to this screen after you have established your compensation plans and choose that plan code as a default. This will save time in setting up employees and whenever this compensation plan is used.

Controls

Use this group box to establish a default compensation plan and control access to the Summary Job Titles table.

Default Compensation Plan

If you have a compensation plan you use for the majority of employees and you wish to use it as a default, select it from the drop-down box. If you have not yet set up your compensation plans, set them up and then return to this screen to choose the default. If you use multiple compensation plans and no one compensation plan is used more than another, you will want to leave this field blank. This is not a required field.

Summary Job Title Required

Select this checkbox if summary job titles will be required. If you do not select this checkbox, users will not have access to the Summary Job Titles table.

Compensation Plan Table Usage

Use the radio buttons in this group box to select the degree of validation that you want the system to perform when assigning a compensation plan to an employee. The validation will be activated when changes are made to Labor Group or Labor Location for an employee in the Salary Info and History table.

Note:  If Labor Groups or Labor Locations contain values in the Salary Info and History table, the system will validate against the Compensation Plan Default table. If Labor Groups or Labor Locations have null values and you enter new values, the system will perform validation against the Compensation Plan Default table. If Labor Groups or Labor Locations have values and then are changed to null values, the system will perform validation against the Compensation Plan Default table.

Hard Edit

Select this radio button to maintain a direct link between the Compensation Plan and Labor Group or Labor Location, as maintained in the Compensation Plan Defaults table. The value of this radio button is "H."  This selection is the most stringent level of validation; it will prevent you from entering data that is not found in the Compensation Plan Defaults table.

Soft Edit

Select this radio button to receive a warning that the Compensation Plan and Labor Group or Labor Location is not set up in the Compensation Plan Defaults table. You will still be able to enter and save the data. The value of this radio button is "S."

Default Only
