Use this screen to set up the default benefit packages for certain groups of employees. You can group employees by a combination of labor group, labor location, hourly/salary status, regular/part-time/ temp status, employment type and/or employee class. The defaults set up in this screen will be used in the Employee Benefit Elections application in Costpoint Employee.
You cannot set up benefit package defaults until you have set up benefit packages in the Benefit Packages screen. After setting up benefit packages, you can add to this table at any time, and you can establish an unlimited number of defaults.
Enter, or use Lookup to select, the company (taxable entity in 5.0) that will be used as a basis for defaulting the benefit package. The value that you enter here, along with the values entered in the table window, will be used to default the employee's benefit package in the Maintain Employee Benefit Elections screen and when a life event that qualifies the employee for benefit changes is selected in ESS-Life Events/New Hires. The Company code is validated against the Set Up Company Info table in Costpoint General Ledger. This field is required.
Use this table window to establish the default benefit packages and the values that will be used as a basis for defaulting. You can enter any combination of labor group, labor location, hourly/salary status, employment type, and/or employee class.
Enter, or use Lookup to select, the code for the benefit package that you want to use as a default for this group. The benefit package code is validated against the Benefit Packages table. This is a required field.
This non-editable field displays the description or name of the benefit package code that you entered in the Default Benefit Package column.
Enter the number that will be used to determine the package's priority if multiple packages apply to an employee. Depending on how you set up your benefit package defaults, an employee can be eligible for more than one benefit package. The system will use this value to determine which benefit package has the highest priority (lowest number), and that package will default for the employee.
Enter, or use Lookup to select, the code for the labor group that should be used as a basis for defaulting the Default Benefit Package. The labor group code is validated against the Labor Groups table in Costpoint Labor. This field is optional.

Select the status that will be used as a basis for defaulting the Default Benefit Package. The drop-down list includes the following options: "Hourly," "Salaried," and "Fluctuating."
Select the employment type that will be used as a basis for defaulting the Default Benefit Package. The drop-down list includes the following options: "Regular," "Part-Time," and "Temporary."
