Use this screen to set up codes and related descriptions for user-defined benefit types that can be assigned to benefit plans. This screen gives you a way to track benefits beyond the standard system benefit types. Standard system benefit types are limited to "LIFE" (Life Insurance), "HEALTH" (Health Insurance), "VISION (Vision Insurance), "DENTAL" (Dental Insurance), and "DIS" (Disability Insurance).
You can use the codes that you define in this screen for internal tracking. Although the codes are assigned to a benefit plan, their use is informational only and they will not be validated internally by the system.
You should enter all of the benefit type codes you plan to use before going to the Benefit Plan Setup screen. However, you can add to this table at any time, and you can establish an unlimited number of records.
After selecting the New Line button on the toolbar, enter up to 12 alphanumeric characters to uniquely identify the code for the user-defined benefit type. This code is used for benefit types other than the standard system types listed above. This is a required field.
Enter up to 30 alphanumeric characters to describe or name the benefit type. This is a required field.
