In a normal multi-user environment, most Costpoint installations will want to have one or more workstations running as process servers all the time. The cost of these extra workstations should be taken into account when planning for Costpoint usage.
The workstations running as process servers must be configurable as normal Windows workstations. Extra-powerful machines especially configured for use as back-end servers (such as file servers or database servers) are not needed. However, because the process servers will run compute-intensive functions (reports, computations, and postings), they should be among the fastest workstations in your company. (e.g., they should have a fast processor, a large amount of memory, and fast swap file access.)
