Use this screen to set up reference numbers and link them to account/ organization combinations.
You must set up reference numbers to be used in data entry here before you can enter them in transaction screens. You must use this screen to set up reference numbers to be used as alternate reporting structures before you can use them in printing reports. You must have set up the top level of the reference structure in the Define Ref Structures screen before you can set up any lower-level elements in this screen.
Enter the code for the reference number you want to set up, including the period delimiters.
Enter a descriptive name for the reference number. This name will display on screens and reports to help identify the reference number.
The level of the reference number is automatically displayed and cannot be changed. It is based on the Reference No entered here and on the reference structure set up in the Define Ref Structures screen.
Select this checkbox if you plan to use reference numbers in data entry. If this checkbox is left unchecked, the reference number will be used as an alternate reporting structure.
Select this pushbutton to open the Link Reference to Acct/Orgs subtask, which should be used when the reference number will be used as an alternate reporting structure but not in data entry.
