This toolkit automatically creates/updates a Costpoint file named "CPFABC.INI," which you can download directly into the Intermec scanner using the Intermec FileCopy Utility.
The length of your asset number and any defined location code labels are read from Costpoint data and automatically display in this screen. This data, along with your choice of whether to scan by Asset No or Tag No, is saved in the CPFABC.INI file and downloaded to the scanner using Intermec's FileCopy Utility. The CPFABC.INI file supplies the base information from which the scan is performed.
Under normal circumstances, you will use this screen one time only at initialization to create the initial CPFABC.INI file. You will not need to re-create the CPFABC.INI file again unless you make edits to the Location 1, 2, or 3 code labels and/or functionality in Costpoint Fixed Assets or you want to change the Scan By selection parameter (Asset No or Tag No) or the default file location.
You can save settings from this screen to create a new CPFABC.INI file for download into the scanner at any time. Under normal circumstances, however, you will need to use this screen only once at initialization to create the initial CPFABC.INI file.
If you have made edits to the Location 1, 2, or 3 labels and/or functionality in Costpoint Fixed Assets or you want to change the Scan By selection parameter (Asset No or Tag No), you can modify the settings in this screen. When you save your edits, a new CPFABC.INI file will be created.
In this group box, you can choose whether to scan by asset number or by tag number.
This radio button is selected by default.
Select this radio button to scan by asset number. It is assumed that you have asset numbers printed on your bar code labels or that you will manually enter asset numbers into the scanner.
The system will automatically assign item number "00001" to each asset number during the scan, so you do no need to print the associated item number on the bar code label or manually enter the item number. If you have item numbers different than "00001," you may have already printed them on the bar code label or you can manually enter the correct item number directly in the scanner.
Select this radio button to scan by tag number. It is assumed that you have tag numbers printed on your bar code labels or that you will manually enter tag numbers into the scanner.
Even though you can scan by tag number, the system must still associate the tag number with, and validate against, the related asset and item number when you import the scanned data from the Asset Location Preprocessor screen.
This field is not available in this Costpoint release.
This non-editable field displays the asset number length that was set up during initialization in the Fixed Assets Settings screen for your Asset Master records.
Once you have entered and saved your first Asset Master record, you cannot change the asset number length in the Fixed Assets Settings screen.
The Intermec scanner uses this data to prevent the scan or entry of an asset number with more characters than the designated asset number length.
The fields in this group box are non-editable.
If you use the optional location code functionality, these fields display the location labels that you defined in the Asset Master Field Labels screen.
This field displays the label for Location 1 Codes that you defined in the Asset Master Field Labels screen.
You can use location code functionality with or without defining labels for these optional fields. If you did not define a label for Location 1 Codes, "Location1" automatically displays in this field.
If you need to add or edit the label for this field, you must do so in the Asset Master Field Labels screen.
This field displays the label for Location 2 Codes that you defined in the Asset Master Field Labels screen.
You can use location code functionality with or without defining labels for these optional fields. If you did not define a label for Location 2 Codes, "Location2" automatically displays in this field.
If you need to add or edit the label for this field, you must do so in the Asset Master Field Labels screen.
This field displays the label for Location 3 Codes that you defined in the Asset Master Field Labels screen.
You can use location code functionality with or without defining labels for these optional fields. If you did not define a label for Location 3 Codes, "Location3" automatically displays in this field.
If you need to add or edit the label for this field, you must do so in the Asset Master Field Labels screen.
Use this pushbutton to save edits made in this screen and to enter the required PC destination directory information to which the CPFABC.INI file created in this screen will be saved.
(Before the scanner can use the data from this screen, you must download the CPFABC.INI file to the Intermec scanner using Intermec's FileCopy Utility.)
When the Save function is complete, the system displays a message that the data was saved without errors.
Use this pushbutton to exit from this screen without saving screen edits.
Data from this screen is saved in the CPFABC.INI file and is not written to any Fixed Assets tables.
The Length of Asset Number Field in this screen automatically displays the value from the Fixed Assets Settings screen (FA_SETTINGS. ASSET_ID_LEN_NO).
The display-only fields in the Location Label Names group box automatically display the optional location labels initialized in the Asset Master Field Labels screen (FA_LABELS.LOC1_LBL, FA_LABELS.LOC2LBL, FA_LABELS.LOC3LBL).
