This subtask is enabled if the Action Code is "A -Add," "R - Replace, or "V - New Rev" and the Change-To Part is populated for the selected line in the main screen. Use this subtask to view and update the EBOM assemblies that use the original part. If there are EBOMs that use this component in Costpoint Bills of Material, this subtask will load the existing assembly parts without the action code.
This field displays the ECN ID from the main screen. The ECN description displays in the unlabeled field to the right.
This field displays the change-to part ID from the main screen. The part description (from the Basic Part Data screen in Costpoint Product Definition) displays in the unlabeled field beneath this field.
This field displays the change-to part revision from the main screen.
This field displays the change-to part status from the main screen.
This field displays the default inventory unit of measure code for the change-to part from the main screen
If the Action Code for the selected line in the main screen is "A -Add" or "R -Replace" and the Original Part is a component in an EBOM assembly, the Change-To Part will display in the Component Part field, but those assemblies in which the Original Part is a component will display in the table window without an Action Code. If the Replace in All BOMs column is "Y" for the selected line in the main screen and you select this subtask, the system will display the following message:
"Warning: Changes made in this screen may overwrite changes created by the Replace in BOM function."
This warning means that if you make changes in this subtask, only those changes will be saved for the affected assembly, even if the Replace in All BOMs column is "Y" (Yes) for the selected line in the main screen. However, if you do not add a line or make changes to an existing line in this subtask, the Change-To Part will replace the Original Part in all EBOMs where the Original Part exists as a component. In this case, all EBOM assemblies and configurations from the original part/revision in the main screen will be copied based on the starting and ending effective dates once you run the Implement ECN Changes application.
Select from the drop-down box the action this ECN will perform. You can select either "A - Add," "C - Change," or "D - Delete" in this optional field. The default is "A - Add" for newly added lines or lines that are copied from another assembly.
Enter up to four digits of the line number to identify the specific EBOM component line. This field is required.
Enter up to four alphanumeric characters in this required field for the drawing find number of this EBOM component line. Upon populating the Line field for a new line, this field will default with zeroes, but can be changed. For example, if you enter "3" in the Line field, the Find field will default to "0003."
Enter, or use Lookup to select, the assembly part ID that uses the component part displayed in the header. This required field of up to 30 alphanumeric characters must be a valid part ID from the Basic Part Data screen in Costpoint Product Definition. If the Original Part for the selected line in the main screen is a component in an EBOM assembly, this field displays the assembly part. You can add new assembly parts.
Enter, or use Lookup to select, the assembly part revision that uses this component. This optional field of up to three alphanumeric characters must be a valid revision code from the Basic Part Data screen in Costpoint Product Definition.
This field displays the assembly part description.
Enter the component type code in this required field: "B" (Buy With Component), "S" (Standard), "P" (Phantom), "R" (Reference), "T" (Tool), or "D" (Deleted). The default is the component part type from the Basic Part Data screen in Costpoint Product Definition (for standard parts) or the Maintain Provisional Parts screen in Costpoint Product Definition (for provisional parts).
Enter the quantity type code in this required field: "A" (Per Assembly), "R" (As Required), or "O" (Per Order). This Qty Type field is for the component part. If the component part has the As Required checkbox selected in the Basic Part Data screen in Costpoint Product Definition, or the Comp Type is "R" (Reference), the default for this field is "R." If the Comp Type is "T" (Tool), the default for this field is "O." Otherwise, the default is "A."
Enter up to 14 digits in this required field, including two digits after the decimal point, for the component part quantity required in the EBOM. The default is "1." If the Qty Type is "R," the default is zero; if you enter a number other than zero, the system will display an error message.
Enter "M" (Make) in this required field if the component is to be manufactured or "B" (Buy) if it is to be purchased. The default is the component part's make/buy designation from the Basic Part Data screen in Costpoint Product Definition.
Enter, or use Lookup to select, the ID of the configuration in which this component will be used when planning this EBOM. This is an optional field. If you make an entry, it must be a valid BOM configuration ID from the Configuration Identifiers screen in Costpoint Bills of Material. This field will be hidden if you did not select the Use Configuration IDs checkbox in the BOM Corporate Settings subtask of the BOM Settings screen in Costpoint Bills of Material.
This field displays the configuration description from the Configuration Identifiers screen in Costpoint Bills of Material. This field will be hidden if you did not select the Use Configuration IDs checkbox in the BOM Corporate Settings subtask of the BOM Settings screen in Costpoint Bills of Material.
Enter the date on which this component will become effective in this EBOM. This field is required and can be changed. This field defaults with the Suggested Effective Date in the ECN Detail subtask, or the Effective Date (from the selected line in the main screen) if the Suggested Effective Date is null. This field defaults with the current system date if both the Suggested Effective Date and Effective Date are null.
Enter the date this component will cease being effective in this EBOM. This field is optional, and defaults with the EBOM component's Effective Ending Date (if the date exists). If this date is earlier than the current date but later than the effective starting date, the system will display a warning message when you tab out of this field.
If this date is earlier than the effective starting date, an error message will display.
Enter "Y" (Yes) in this required field to release this component in this EBOM; enter "N" (No) to keep it unreleased. The default value is determined by the radio button selected in the EBOM Release Control - Default Component Release Status in Bill group box in the BOM Settings screen in Costpoint Bills of Material.
If you did not select the Use Extended Length Reference Designators checkbox in the BOM Corporate Settings subtask of the BOM Settings screen, enter up to 254 alphanumeric characters of reference designator text for this component on this assembly. This field is optional. However, if you selected the Use Extended Length Reference Designators checkbox, you can enter up to 32,000 alphanumeric characters in this field. This field displays any reference designator text that was assigned to the component part line in the Component Reference Designators subtask of the Maintain EBOM and/or Release EBOM screen.
Enter up to 254 alphanumeric characters of any comments that apply to this EBOM component. This field is optional. This field will display any comments already entered for the EBOM component.
This field displays the assembly part release code (i.e., "R" for Released or "U" for Unreleased) from the Maintain EBOM or Release EBOM screens in Costpoint Bills of Material.
This field displays the assembly part's Status Type from the Basic Part Data screen in Costpoint Product Definition (for standard parts), or "Provisional" for provisional parts. You can also change the part status for the EBOM (for standard parts) in the Maintain EBOM or Release EBOM screens in Costpoint Bills of Material.
If the assembly part is a provisional part, this field displays the provisional part type that is assigned to the provisional part ID. You can change this field only in the Maintain Provisional Parts screen in Costpoint Product Definition. If the assembly part is a standard part, this field will be blank.
Enter "Y" (Yes) in this required field to exclude material planning processes from planning material requirements. If the component is a buy part, and the Comp Type is not "B" (Buy With Component), the default is "Y" (Yes). If the Comp Type is "R" (Reference) or "T" (Tool), the default is also "Y" (Yes). Otherwise, the default is "N" (No).
