EBOM COMPONENTS

Use this subtask to view the Engineering Bills of Material (EBOM) components of the selected part to be changed by the ECN. If no components exist for the Assembly Part, you may copy components from an existing MBOM or EBOM assembly, or add new component lines manually.

ECN

This field displays the ECN ID from the main screen. The unlabeled field to the right displays the ECN description from the main screen.

Assembly

Part

This field displays the part ID from the main screen. If the Action Code is "O - Obsolete" or "C - Change" in the main screen, this field displays the original part ID. If the Action Code is "A - Add," "R - Replace," or "V - New Rev" in the main screen, this field displays the change-to part ID.

The part description displays in the unlabeled field beneath this field.

Rev

This field displays the part revision from the main screen.

EBOM Status

Select the EBOM status (i.e., "Released" or "Unreleased") of the selected assembly part from the drop-down box.  This field is required, but can be changed. The default is the value of part's assembly release flag. If the Action Code is "A - Add," "R - Replace," or "V - New Rev" in the main screen, this field defaults with the value from the Change-To EBOM Status field in the main screen. If the Action Code is "C - Change" or "O - Obsolete" in the main screen and the original part is an EBOM assembly, this field defaults with the original part's BOM Status from the Maintain EBOM screen. All component parts must be released (i.e., the Component Released field must be "Y" for all lines) for the EBOM Status to be "Released."

Part Status

If the Action Code is "A - Add," "R - Replace," or "V - New Rev" for the selected line in the main screen, this field will default with the value from the Change-To Status field.  If the Action Code is "C - Change" or "O - Obsolete" for the selected line in the main screen, this field will default with the value from the Original Part Status field.

Table Window

If the Action Code in the main screen is "O - Obsolete" or "C - Change," the original part's EBOM components will load into this table window if the original part is an EBOM assembly. If the Action Code in the main screen is "A - Add," "R - Replace," or "V - New Rev," the change-to part's EBOM components will default into this table window if the change-to part is an EBOM assembly. If no components exist for the Assembly Part, you can copy components from an existing MBOM or EBOM assembly, or add new component lines manually.

If the Action Code for a newly added line in the main screen is "R - Replace," and both the change-to part and original part are EBOM assemblies, and the Copy Original Part Info field is "N" (No), the Change-To Part will populate the Assembly Part field and its EBOM components will load in the table window without an Action Code.  However, if the Copy Original Part Info field is "Y" (Yes) and you open the EBOM Components subtask, the system will display the following message: "Warning: If any rows are entered in this screen, no EBOM Component information will automatically be copied from the Original to the Change-To Part." If you select OK, the system will display another message giving you the option of setting the starting effective date to the current date and removing BOM lines that are no longer in effect in the EBOM Components screen.  If you select No, the Action Code will be set to "A - Add" for all component part rows, and the Effective Starting Date and Effective Ending Date will remain as they exist in the EBOM. If you select Yes, all rows with an effective ending date earlier than, or the same as, the Suggested Effective Date (in the ECN Detail subtask) or system date (if the Suggested Effective Date is null) will be deleted when you save the record, and all other BOM rows' starting effective date will be changed to the Suggested Effective Date or system date (if the Suggested Effective Date is null).

Action Code

Select from the drop-down box the action this ECN will perform, either "A - Add," "C - Change," "D - Delete," or "O - Obsolete."  If you are adding a new line, the default is "A - Add." If the table window defaults with the EBOM components for the original part or change-to part, this field will be blank depending on the Action Code in the main screen.

Line

Enter up to four digits of the line number to identify the specific EBOM component line. This field is required. If the part in header has EBOM components, this field takes the value from BOM structure.

Find

Enter up to four alphanumeric characters of the drawing find number used for this EBOM component line. Upon populating the Line field for a new line, this field will default with zeroes, but can be changed. For example, if you enter "3" in the Line field, the Find field will default to "0003." This field is optional.

Component Part

You can enter both standard and provisional parts in this field. Enter, use Lookup, or use the Lookup Prov Part pushbutton to select, the component part ID used on this EBOM line. This optional field of up to 30 alphanumeric characters must be a valid part ID from the Basic Part Data screen (for standard parts) or the Maintain Provisional Parts screen (for provisional parts) in Costpoint Product Definition. If the part in the header already has EBOM components, this field populates from the BOM structure. You can add new components.

Comp Rev

Enter, use Lookup, or use the Lookup Prov Part pushbutton to select, the component part revision used on this EBOM line. This optional field of up to three alphanumeric characters must be part of a valid part/revision combination from the Basic Part Data screen (for standard parts) or the Maintain Provisional Parts screen (for provisional parts) in Costpoint Product Definition.

Comp Type

Enter the component type code: "B" (Buy With Component), "S" (Standard), "P" (Phantom), "R" (Reference), "T" (Tool), or "D" (Deleted). This field is required. The default takes the code associated with the component part from the Basic Part Data screen in Costpoint Product Definition (for standard parts), or the Maintain Provisional Parts screen (for provisional parts).

Qty Type

Enter the quantity type code: "A" (Per Assembly), "R" (As Required), or "O" (Per Order). This field is required. If you have selected the As Required checkbox in the Basic Part Data screen in Costpoint Product Definition for the component part, or the Comp Type is "R" (Reference), the default for this field is "R." If the Comp Type is "T" (Tool), the default for this field is "O." Otherwise, the default is "A."

Quantity

Enter up to 14 digits, including two digits after the decimal point, for the component part quantity required in the EBOM. This field is required. The default is "1." If the Qty Type is "R," the default is zero.

Inv U/M

This field displays the inventory unit of measure for the component from the Basic Part Data screen in Costpoint Product Definition.

Make/Buy

Enter "M" (Make) if the component is to be manufactured or "B" (Buy) if it is to be purchased. This field is required. The default takes its value from the component part.

Effective Starting Date

Enter the effective date for this component in the EBOM. This field is required. For new rows whose Action Code is "A - Add," the default will be the Effective Date from the main screen. If the Effective Date is null, the Suggested Effective Date in the ECN Detail subtask will display. If the Action Code is blank and a component part exists, the EBOM component's Effective Starting Date will display.

Effective Ending Date

Enter the date on which this component will cease being effective in this EBOM. This is an optional field that defaults with the EBOM component's Effective Ending Date (if the date exists). If the Action Code is "O - Obsolete," this field defaults with the Suggested Effective Date from the ECN Detail subtask (if populated).

Component Released

Enter "Y" (Yes) to release this component in this EBOM, or "N" (No) to keep it unreleased. This is a required field. The default value is determined by the radio button selected in the EBOM Release Control - Default Component Release Status in Bill group box in the BOM Settings screen of Costpoint Bills of Material.

Note: In an EBOM, provisional component parts can be released, and therefore the EBOM status can be released. However, you cannot release provisional component parts in an ECN. You must convert the provisional part to a standard part in the Convert Provisional Part to Standard Part application in Product Definition (and release it in the EBOM or ECN); otherwise, the EBOM Status field can be "Unreleased" only if a provisional component part row exists.

Reference Designators

If you did not select the Use Extended Length Reference Designators checkbox in the BOM Corporate Settings subtask of the BOM Settings screen, enter up to 254 alphanumeric characters of reference designator text for this component on this assembly. This field is optional. However, if you selected the Use Extended Length Reference Designators checkbox, you can enter up to 32,000 alphanumeric characters in this field. This field displays any reference designator text that was assigned for the component part line in the Component Reference Designators subtask of the Maintain EBOM and/or Release EBOM screen.
