Use this screen to print a comparison of summarized quantities for components between two assemblies’ exploded MBOM or EBOM, as selected. Comparisons can be done between two MBOMs, or two EBOMs, or between an MBOM and EBOM (or vice versa), for two assemblies. You have the option of selecting whether the comparisons will print a summary of the assemblies' first-level components, the entire bill of material through all the levels, or a BOM through a specified number of levels. In addition, you also have the option of printing all exploded components, or only those components that have variances between the two assemblies.
If you are comparing BOMs between two assemblies, enter two sets of assembly part information (referred to as Assembly A and Assembly B). The system will then explode each assembly’s MBOM or EBOM, as selected, to the specified level. The total quantity for each unique part/revision, which is summarized for all levels, will be printed. The summarized BOM process is executed separately for Assembly A and B, and the results are displayed next to each other in separate columns on the report.
Use this group box to identify the BOM for the first assembly that is being compared.
Enter, use Lookup, or use the Lookup Prov Part pushbutton to select, the ID of the first assembly whose summarized BOM is to be compared. This field can have up to 30 alphanumeric characters and must be a valid part number from the Basic Part Data screen (for standard parts) or from the Maintain Provisional Parts screen (for provisional parts) in Costpoint Product Definition. If you selected the Manufacturing radio button in the BOM Type group box, you can enter, or use Lookup to select, only standard parts for this field. However, if you selected the Engineering radio button, you can use the Lookup Prov Part pushbutton to look up provisional parts. You can also enter, or use Lookup to select, a standard assembly part.
Enter, use Lookup, or use the Lookup Prov Part pushbutton to select the revision of the first assembly whose summarized BOM is to be compared. This field can have up to three alphanumeric characters, and must be a valid revision number for the part from the Basic Part Data screen (for standard parts) or from the Maintain Provisional Parts screen (for provisional parts) in Costpoint Product Definition.
Enter the as-of component effectivity date for the selected assembly. The report will include only those components with a starting effectivity date that is earlier than, or the same as, the as-of date and an ending effectivity date (if not blank) later than the as-of date. This field is required and defaults to the system date, but can be changed.
Enter, or use Lookup to select, the BOM configuration ID for the selected assembly. This field is available if you selected the Use Configuration IDs checkbox in the BOM Corporate Settings subtask of the BOM Settings screen. This field can have up to 10 alphanumeric characters, and must be a valid ID from the Configuration Identifiers screen.
If you enter a configuration ID, what prints on the report depends on whether that configuration ID appears on a given component line. If a line exists with the entered configuration ID, that line will print. If no line exists with the entered configuration ID, but there is a line without a configuration ID, the line without a configuration ID will print. If a line cannot be found that contains either the entered configuration ID or an empty configuration ID field, no line will print.
Use Lookup to view the serial number ranges of the assembly to determine the configuration/as-of date for the report. This function is not available for provisional parts.
Use the fields in this group box to customize the comparison of the assembly for either Manufacturing Bills of Material (MBOMs) or Engineering Bills of Material (EBOMs) based on the selected assembly part(s).

Enter, use Lookup, or use the Lookup Prov Part pushbutton to select, the ID of the second assembly whose summarized BOM is to be compared.
Enter, use Lookup, or use the Lookup Prov Part pushbutton to select the revision of the second assembly whose summarized BOM is to be compared.

Select either radio button in this group box to specify how the components in both assemblies will print on the report.
Select this radio button to print all component parts for both assemblies.
Select this radio button to print only those component parts that have variances that do not match between the two assemblies. Absence of variance in quantities between the two assemblies compared does not necessarily mean that the two assemblies have exactly the same bills of material. For example, when you compare multilevel BOMs between two assemblies, the actual quantities for a particular component at any given level may be different, but the total (summarized) quantity may be equal. In that case, there is no variance between the two part assemblies, but the actual BOM at some levels may not match exactly.
Select this checkbox to include planned component shrinkage quantities in the report. The shrinkage quantities will be incorporated in the line with the requirement quantities, unless you select the Display Scrap/Yield Qty Separately checkbox. If this checkbox is selected, the multiplied out quantities at all the selected BOM levels will be adjusted by the corresponding scrap and yield quantities for the BOM, and the summarized quantity for a component or subassembly will therefore include all such scrap and yield adjustments. If this option is not selected, then scrap and yield percentages will be ignored during the quantity calculations.
Select this checkbox to print planned component shrinkage quantities on a separate line in the report. This field is available only if you have selected the Include Scrap/Yield Qty checkbox. If you have selected this checkbox, the combined scrap and yield quantity will print separately on the report below the line that reads, "multiplied out quantity per assembly (without scrap/yield)." A "total" line displays the sum of the "multiplied out quantity per assembly (without scrap/yield)" and "scrap/yield quantity" for that unique component. If you do not select this checkbox, the Scrap/Yield quantity (and totals) for each unique component quantity will not print. In this case, the report column will show only the total quantities that are multiplied for each unique component, which will be adjusted by scrap/yield if the Include Scrap/Yield Qty checkbox is selected.
Select this pushbutton to look up a provisional part/revision for either Assembly A or Assembly B.
If you selected the Engineering radio button in the BOM Type group box, you can use this pushbutton while in the Assembly A and Assembly B group boxes to look up a provisional part. This pushbutton is disabled if you select the Manufacturing radio button.
