Direct Costs Added to Job Totals API
You can now retrieve Direct Costs through the Job Totals API. Direct Costs are calculated as total costs minus purchase orders and subcontracts. This value is included at the job, phase, category, and cost type levels, and is available in all Job Totals GET requests for API keys with the appropriate permissions.
(Deltek Tracking Number: 2562036)
Enable Inbound Option for API Data Access Management
The Enable Inbound option is now available in Configure > API Management > API Data Access Management for Time Entries, Expenses, and Subcontracts. This option gives administrators more explicit control over whether third‑party applications can write data to ComputerEase through the API.
The Enable Inbound option is automatically selected when All is selected for the applicable data type. ComputerEase now sends these inbound permission settings to the API, and the API enforces them by accepting third‑party write requests only when Enable Inbound is selected for the corresponding data type.
For existing users, Enable Inbound is preselected for Time Entries and Expenses if those data types were already enabled before this update.
Note: Customers who use an API key to create time or expense entries must update to ComputerEase 2026.2 by May 30, 2026 to continue writing data through the API.
(Deltek Tracking Number: 2613964)
Subcontract Data API Update
Added the Subcontracts data type and filters to Configure > Field Management > Access Group Maintenance, allowing you to include or exclude all subcontracts.
(Deltek Tracking Number: 2162003)
New Subcontract Fields
In the Subcontract and Change Order dialog boxes, the Created by andLast Modified by fields have been added. These are read-only fields that can be viewed when editing a subcontract or change order. They both contain the following details:
- ComputerEase username or API key name of the user who created or last modified the item.
- Source where the item was created or last modified.
- Date and time when the item was created or last modified.
To create a subcontract or change order, select Subcontract > Enter a New Subcontract / Enter a New Change Order. To edit a subcontract or change order, select Subcontract > Edit a Subcontract or Change Order.
On the Subcontract Summary and Detail reports, the Created by field has been added. This field enables you to include reported subcontracts based on their creation source. Options are the following:
- All: Includes all subcontracts. This is the default option.
- Desktop: Includes subcontracts created by the Desktop
- 3rd Party: Includes subcontracts created by the API.
To run the Subcontract reports, select Subcontract > Subcontract Reports > Subcontract Summary / Subcontract Detail > by Vendor / by Job.

Subcontracts API Integration Enhancements
ComputerEase now supports expanded Public API integration for Subcontract data, improving automation and data consistency.API keys with Subcontracts permissions, configured through Configure > API Management > API Data Access Management, can create and update Subcontract-related records through Public API endpoints. New and updated Subcontracts, Subcontract Change Orders, Subcontract Events, and Subcontract Attachments can now be automatically imported from the Public API into ComputerEase.
Subcontract Events are validated to prevent exact duplicates. Existing events with blank values are preserved, and Approved and Denied statuses are managed by replacing one with the other when applicable. When an Approved event is imported, the Subcontract is updated to Approved, the Date Approved is populated, and Allow Billings is automatically selected and disabled. When a Denied event is imported, the Subcontract is updated to Denied, the Date Denied is populated, and Allow Billings is cleared and locked. Subcontract API imports do not accept Approval Status, Date Approved, and Date Denied fields as these fields are automatically updated from Events. The API will return an error when submitted data is not accepted.
Subcontract attachments can now be sent and managed through the Public API. The API accepts common file types with a maximum size of 20 MB per file.Attachments from the Public API are automatically picked up for new and updated subcontract records not yet in ComputerEase. If an incoming attachment has the same file name as an existing ComputerEase attachment, the existing file is replaced.
Imported Subcontract and Change Order records are created or updated in ComputerEase and are immediately available in the Subcontract > Edit a Subcontract or Change Order dialog box. To prevent data conflicts, if accounts payable invoices already exist for a subcontract, any import attempt will fail and return an error message.
In the Configure > API Management > API Access Management dialog box, the Attachment Folder field has been added when adding a new Application Key. This folder name will identify and house incoming attachments sent to ComputerEase from the Application Key holder. The folder name defaults to the Application Key name with invalid file system characters removed. This field can be edited before saving and only valid characters are accepted. After the Application Key is assigned, this field becomes read-only.
ComputerEase sends the Attachment Folder name to the API and supports updates for existing API keys that were created before Subcontracts was enabled or before the API accepted attachments. Note that the Attachment Folder field is disabled if the Enable Inbound option for Subcontracts is not selected.
The information below has been exposed through the Catalog API of the ComputerEase Public API Service. The allowed requests are also specified.
- Subcontracts: Allows GET, POST, and PUT. Note that any Subcontract attached to a Job Cost Itemized RFC is not allowed to be created or updated by the API Service.
- Subcontract Types: Allows GET.
- Subcontract Events: Allows GET.
- Subcontract Items: Allows GET.
