Change Control Page of the Integration Wizard

Use this page to specify the actions that will be performed when the import process updates existing Cobra data.

This page displays when the Control Accounts and Work Packages option is selected on the Action Selection page and a new project is not being created.

Note: When making selections on this page, consider the project level option to Allow change of scope for work packages in progress. If this option is not selected, resource information is not imported for work packages with a status of In progress. This option is set in the Project Properties dialog box.

Field Description
Get the Control Account description from

Use this field to load structure file descriptions instead of schedule activity descriptions. Select one of the following options from the drop-down list:

  • Schedule Activities then Key Field 1 Structure — Select this option to instruct Cobra to load control account descriptions from the control account level schedule activities. If there is no control account being loaded from the schedule or if the control account schedule activity is empty, Cobra will load the description from the key field 1 structure file. If the schedule and key field 1 descriptions are both empty, Cobra will use the description from the first work package loaded from the schedule defined for the control account. By default, this option is selected.

  • Key Field 1 Structure then Schedule Activities — Select this option to instruct Cobra to load control account descriptions from the key field 1 structure file, if it is defined, even if the structure description is empty. If the key field 1 structure file is not defined, Cobra will get the description from the control account schedule activity. If the key field 1 structure file is not defined, and the control account schedule description is empty, Cobra will use the description from the first work package loaded from the schedule defined for the control account.

Apply historical budget changes as an adjusting entry in the current status period

This option is enabled if you select Resource Assignments on the Action Selection page and Baseline Start Date on the Import File Field Mapper page. When this option is selected, Cobra will always update the baseline dates to match the dates loaded from the schedule. If there are resource assignments in Cobra that are not being loaded from the schedule, the process log displays a message asking the user to respread the resource assignments that are not loaded. When this option is not selected, Cobra will update the baseline dates to match the dates loaded from the schedule if the resource assignments loaded match the resource assignments found in Cobra. If you are importing work packages with resource assignments in Cobra that are not in the schedule, Cobra will only update the baseline start date in Cobra if the schedule start date is earlier, or the baseline finish date in Cobra if the schedule finish date is later.

Apply historical forecast changes as an adjusting entry in the current status period

This option is enabled if you select Resource Assignments on the Action Selection page and Forecast Start Date on the Import File Field Mapper page. This option is enabled if you are importing forecast data. When this option is selected, Cobra sums up all schedule forecast data prior to status date and puts the data in the current period. When this option is cleared, Cobra does not load any schedule forecast data prior to the status period.

Force existing Work Package baseline dates to match the schedule

By default, Cobra will update the control account and work package baseline dates to exactly match the dates loaded from the schedule if all resource assignments in the control account/work package are being replaced by the assignments loaded from the schedule, or if there are no existing resource assignments in the control account/work package.

If the control account/work package has resource assignments that are not being loaded from the schedule, Cobra will only allow expansion of the control account and work package dates (early start date or late finish date) to match the schedule dates to accommodate the newly loaded assignments.

When this option is selected, Cobra will force the control account and work package baseline dates to match the dates loaded from the schedule, even if you are not loading resource assignments. Cobra will expand the dates only if the schedule dates loaded are outside the dates in Cobra. If the dates are expanded, the time-phased spread will not be affected. If the dates are collapsed, the time-phased spread will be updated to match the dates of the resource assignments loaded from the schedule. If there are resource assignments that are not in the schedule, Cobra displays a message in the log asking you to respread certain resource assignments and classes to make sure they fall within the new dates.

For example, you have a LABOR resource that uses the class Budget and another LABOR resource that uses the class B1. You import data from the schedule and change the dates of the wok package, but only load the LABOR resource in the class Budget. Selecting this option causes the spread of LABOR in class B1 not to be spread over the new dates. Cobra displays a message asking you to respread the resource and the class.

Update the Control Account dates to span Work Package dates exactly This option is enabled only if you select the Update baseline dates option. Select this option to:
  • Make control account dates exactly span the work package
  • Make control account start and finish dates for all date sets exactly match the earliest start and latest finish of all work package date sets
Update the description for existing Control Accounts and Work Packages Select this check box to update the description of the Cobra accounts to match the description of the corresponding schedule activity. If the description in Cobra is blank, Cobra still updates it, whether you select this check box or not.
Recalculate existing milestone weights Select this check box to recalculate the weight of each milestone. This option applies only if Cobra calculates milestone weights during the import process and does not import them from a schedule field.

This check box is enabled only if you are importing budget.

Delete items from Cobra that are no longer in the schedule Select this check box to enable the other options that define how Cobra deletes items that are not in the schedule that is being imported.
Delete Control Accounts and Work Packages no longer in the schedule Select this check box to delete any Cobra work package that is no longer in the schedule that you are importing. Selecting this check box enables the Only delete items matching the following criteria check box.
Delete only items that match the following criteria Select this check box to filter the accounts deleted to only those matching the defined filter. This is important when multiple schedules are imported into a single Cobra project, and when only data from the schedule being imported should be deleted.
Deletion Criteria This button is enabled only when the Only delete items matching the following criteria check box is selected. Click this button to display the Deletion Criteria dialog box.
Delete resource assignments no longer in the schedule Select this check box to delete all resources no longer found in the incoming schedule based on the mapping defined. Selecting this check box enables the Only delete resources with the default or selected class check box.
Delete only resources with the default or selected class Select this check box to filter the deleted resources to include only those that have the default class or the filtered class defined in the Resources Assignment page.
List deleted items in the process log

Select this check box to list all items that are deleted from Cobra during the import process in the integration log.

When running this process, you must consider the project level option to Allow change of scope for work packages in progress. If this option is not selected, resource information is not imported for work packages with a status of In progress. This option is set on the Project Properties dialog box.

Create Work Packages that do not exist when loading forecast Select this option to instruct Cobra to create new work package if it does not exist and you are loading forecast data.
If this option is not selected, Cobra will ignore forecast values if the work package does not exist.
