Had Phil Parry create a Lookup_Glyph_16_Normal_Custom.png  that was 19x18 and in gif format. This way it matched the original icon's size and format. Then I renamed it to binoculars.gif.

Manually replace all DeleteSmall.gif (28 px by 18 px) with delete.gif.

New icon is smaller - looks too stretched out with auto-replace.
